Bombarded by sex, drugs, and crime
I'm wishing for a simpler time
Commit a murder, become a TV star
Is it me or has life gone too far?
Little League brawls
Too afraid to go shopping at the mall
Wars afar, wars at home
Sirens going off at night when I'm alone
Yet I find myself wishing for a simpler time
Wishing for life to be A-OK fine!
Time when crime was the rare and not the norm
Too bad we can't turn back the good from what was from before
Only the beautiful people are allowed.
Non-sluts need not apply, will be turned away by crowd.
Haven't you heard? Morals are down the toilet
Don't like the world's change? Forget doing anything about it!
News media eating the horrors up.
All this negativity makes me want to throw up.
Shut me away, that's all I ask.
I think I want to live in the simple past.

Writer's note:
"Caught In The Middle," "Be In Your Memories," "Meet Me In The Moonlight," and "Leaving This Century Behind" were all written after receiving a copy of my friends', Shawn and Laura, album, Project LMS around October 18, 2002. Call it inspiration.
"Leaving This Century Behind" - Based on many things I disprove of in this world. Reaction to 24/7 DC Sniper coverage and the consistent bombardment from television that the only thing that matters in life is skimpy, skanky, sex objects like Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty" video.
