Diamonds Are Forever
Joey giving Matthew advice
Joey giving Matthew advice
Moblogged by peachy92.

I was hardly at home yesterday.

I spent most of my time at school. The first half of the morning was spent being available to work on a group project. By lunch time, I hadn't heard anything, so I quit school work. By 1 pm, my best friends, Lindsey and Joey, were free to go to lunch. Going to lunch has been our regular thing this semester, and I'm sure going to miss it. *Crying* After lunch, we went back to campus. Lindsey finished her day at work, Joey got briefed on the PA job he's taking for home basketball games, and I decided to read more of Gone with the Wind. Around 4, when I thought Joey was finally ready to leave school, he got an e-mail that his group members for a group project were coming to work and wanted to meet him. I was offered a chance to leave and someone else would take Joey home, but I decided I would follow through on the understanding with Joey about transportation. I stayed to continuing reading and to avoid going home.

It was 6:30 by the time the group work was finished. The group kept making jokes that I was going to finish the book before they finished the work. It was dinner time. Joey asked Mumbles if he wanted to go to dinner. We ended up going to Ben's Grill. As we were talking, the subject of bowling came up. So, we planned on going bowling after dinner.

First, we had to stop at Joey's place. He called the lanes to see when open bowling would start after league bowling. That wasn't until 9, and it was 7:45 at this time. So, to entertain ourselves prior to bowling, Joey had me pull out Scene It? We played 2 full rounds of the regular edition and a short round of the James Bond edition. Joey won all 3 games, but I gave him a run for his money on the regular edition.

We finally got to the bowling alley around 9:30. The three of us played 3 games of bowling a piece. Joey (surprise!) won all the games. I did give him a run for his money in the first game and tied him in the second game. And after the first frame in the last game, I had the lead. It didn't last long. And some how, I now owe him a beer. Matthew did better than he did the last time we all bowled together. This picture is from my camera phone showing Joey giving Matthew advice on where to drop his ball in the lane.

The only problem last night was one Joey and I had. I don't know who taught Joey bowling, but I was taught the game by my grandmother and my father. Grandmother had her own ball, as well as my dad, and while living in Augusta, we would go to the alley at Ft. Gordon sometimes to play. Bowling was probably the only time Grandmother and my father got along. Now, I can't remember how to score, with Grandmother and Daddy handling the score card, and computers today doing the scoring. However, I do remember both stressed, and especially Grandmother, that if someone else nearby was framed to bowl, you waited until he or she released the ball into the lane. It was just proper bowling etiquette. And if Nicki or I broke etiquette, we'd get yelled at by them. Well, in this day and age, kids just don't know etiquette. When someone broke etiquette at Joey's turn, he'd turn around and have a frown on his face. It irritated him, and I didn't blame him. Towards the end of the night, I started breaking it because everyone else around as did. Why show them respect when they couldn't show it to us?

It was a long day, but a good day yesterday. *Smile* I had fun. Joey enjoy the night, and I think Mumbles did, too. I need more days like yesterday in my life.

The Thursday Threesome: Classic Christmas Elves!

Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: Classic-- get togethers? Is that on the list for next week, say about Thursday? ...or do you 'lone wolf' the Thanksgiving season? Thanksgiving looks to be my dad, siblings, and myself. My siblings will also spend part of the holiday weekend with their significant others.

Twosome: Christmas-- Ready or not, here it comes! Complete with shopping and decorations and wants and needs and yeah... Are you ready for the experience? ...or does a nice South Seas cruise sound like a workable alternative? My dad wants the tree up again this year, so I guess will do that. However, at the moment, I don't want to celebrate Christmas. I don't want to celebrate anything at the moment.

Threesome: Elves-- and other helpers? Do you have any lined up to assist on Thanksgiving Day? ...or to decorate in the weeks to come. ...or do you even need them? No, but I guess I should do my father the favor tomorrow and order the turkey dinner from Food Lion.

Waiting On My Hair To Change
Why do you think women are often left out of history?
Why do you think women are
often left out of history?
Moblogged by peachy92.

I'm sitting at my computer at the moment with coloring in my hair. I'm in need of some pampering right now. I consider this my pampering. Plus, when Joey said someone referred to me as being blonde, I took that as clue that the dyeing needed to be done.

Today's picture is a bad picture, but I took it with my cell phone. Lindsey and I were in the MCC and this caught my eye. It says "Why do you think women are often left out of history?" And believe it or not, it burned my cookies. The answers to this question got to me. Nearly all the answers had to deal with man this man that. It's all the man's fault. There are no women in history. *Ranting* Well, that's the case according to this banner. And the truth is, women are part of history. We're there. Man may have shaped our history books, but women did shape history. That may not be in the books, but we're there. Women are there when we hear the stories from our family members. We're there, but I feel the person that created this banner isn't looking hard enough. When I told Joey about this tonight, he got a little pissed at the banner's premise. He started naming off all these famous women from history and naming their accomplishments. As we were having this conversation, Final Jeopardy was on. The question to the answer was "Who is Nellie Bly?" He wasn't able to answer it, but I did. If women are often left out of history, then how did I know about Nellie Bly? ValueTales from my childhood. Those books not only taught me about positive characteristics possessed by famous figures, but I learned some history about them, too. Joey said he wanted to post a counter banner. Instead of asking "Why do you think women are often left out of history," it would say something like "Tell me about the women in history."

No wonder I am friends with him. Most people wonder about our relationship, but the fact he's into being proactive and wanting to see results is a positive trait in my eyes. That's the type of friend I need. And wouldn't you know it, the bastard was right about me yesterday. He told me not to sweat over my Meteorology exam. I was worried I'd fail it. He had faith I would pass. I got an 80 on it. Yes, a B. A B on a test with material I had trouble understanding. There's a 4 point curve on it, so my grade is going to be a 84. Joey also got me a graduation gift tonight. He saw I found an Energizer Bunny Beanie Baby at Walgreens and remarked how I wanted it. He told me to get it and he purchased it for me.

I am almost half way finished with Gone with the Wind. I am Scarlett O'Hara. I am Melanie Wilkes. I see myself in both characters. I can be stubborn. I taken care of my family after my mother's death. And I'm not sure what all else I have in common with her. But I must have quite a bit for Joey to keep telling me I'm like her. But, I also see I have plenty of Melanie in me. I try to be nice and kind to people, but I certain people I just can't forgive. With as far as I've as I've read, I've seen Melanie but helpful to others, but not give a care in the world to the Yankee that threatened Scarlett. I hope to finish the book soon. I plan on watching the movie over Thanksgiving break.

Well, I've had this color on for 30 minutes now. I hope that was long enough.

I SO Bombed That Meteorology Exam

Well, I didn't totally bombed it, because I did understand half the questions. *Laughing* However, I know I could have done better. However, while I wish I had done better, there is a part of me that knows that doing poorly on this exam was probably good for me.

"Good for me!" you exclaim? Am I really that nuts? The answer is yes. All my life, I have worked so hard to be the good person with the perfect grades. As a result, I am afraid of failure. I get so worked up into being perfect. It can make a monster out of me. Nearly everyone I knows tells me it's okay to fail once in a while. They want me to live a little. Even this morning, Joey harped on me about it. I've been hearing this for 23 years. And hopefully, one day soon, it will sink into my head that it's okay. I'm just human; I'm not Wonder Woman.

All that really matters is that I get a B in that class. It's not the end of the world. That happened 2 years ago. Besides, this test dealt with a lot of physics and I never quite got physics. Just when I thought I figured the patten in that class, new ideas were introduced and would disprove the pattern. The same happened in this class. Physics, chemistry, and high level maths like calculus are not my strong suits. I admit that much.

Featured on WTOC Tonight.
ACM Meeting #3
ACM Meeting #3
Uploaded by peachy92.

Yes I was. And no, I didn't see it. And I wasn't interviewed for it. But, I was on TV. So I think.

Today's ACM meeting featured Charles Gray of WTOC as the guest speaker. Mr. Gray brought along the camera to film the meeting for a feature on WTOC The News at 5 The story (excluding video) can be found at the WTOC Web site under title "Gray Talks TV Tech at Local ACM Chapter." The accompanying picture showing the ACM in action has my head in it, along with Lindsey. The shot was taken as I was taking a picture of Lindsey remarking on fund raising events for the group. We may have had a small turn out, but it all of us there were quite interested in learning about the technology used to present to local news. I'm going to watch the 11 o'clock news in case the video is re-aired. I wish they had streamed the video on the Web site. I would have loved to have seen it, but I was in class. If anyone has it, I'd like to see it!

I was a little more active today at the meeting than usual. Joey had to skip out today because he had to get some school work done. Last night, we spent 30 minutes on the phone commiserating with each other about group projects. Today, he had a chance to get with one of his groups, but that time was at ACM time. After I picked him up this morning and we were on the way to school, I got a phone call specifically for Joey about this project. As a result of group project taking him away from his ACM duties, I stepped in and filled in, like I usually do. What is he going to do when I'm gone next semester? *Laughing*

That was my day.
