STICKY POST: Savannah Bloggers Meetup Information

Yes, Gennie and I have made plans for a Savannah Bloggers Meetup.

Date: August 18, 2007
Time: 6 PM
Location: Loco's Grill and Pub at 8108 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA

It's August 18, 2007, 6 PM at Loco's Grill and Pub at 8108 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA. If you're better at knowing a location by sight than by address, Loco's is located in Abercorn Commons on the White Bluff side of the road, just south of Oglethorpe Mall. It's across the street from Zaxby's.

This is meant for fun. It's meant to be light-hearted. So, no trouble making is wanted. That's all we ask.

So, if you're a Savannah area blogger and are interested in meeting other area bloggers, come on down! Let me or Gennie know! Event is listed on Upcoming.

Second Day of Classes.

ACM Cookout 2007
Uploaded by peachy92.

I am so glad the ACM cookout is finished! It was too hot these past couple of days. I was sick last night. I had a big headache that 3 aspirin would not get rid of. It took sleep to stop it.

I lost my cool at one point during the cookout. Mumbles was doing his typical thing: telling me how to do something I know how to do. This time, it was how to put on the gloves for serving food. I was hot, cranky, and frustrated with the gloves. Having his speech, along with the other stuff of the past year, got to me. I screamed "OK!" It left everyone around us speechless. Later, they laughed at having to see me lose my cool. They didn't know I had it in me.

This picture is of Mike and Charles. They are 2 of the guys in my department. Along with Joey, we were partners for a group project in Ethics last spring. We got an A in the project. I'll probably be working with these guys in E-Commerce for the group project that have to be done. I won't be working with them and Joey for Senior Project. I'm a semester ahead of them all. The E-Commerce class has the most females I have ever seen in any of my major classes.

Speaking of Senior Project, the next month plus will be spent working on it until I've had enough. The 30 page paper needs to be written by October 3rd. Thankfully, it's a draft, so I if I screw up, I'll have another month to fix it. The final project must be done by November 14th. So look who will be having hardly any free time until graduation! It will be worth getting the degree. During Senior Project today, the professor made a remark about the GPAs in the major rising over the years. Tweedledee muttered loud enough thanking me for single-handedly raising the GPA. *Laughing* Believe it or not, I will miss Tweedledee and Tweedledum when we graduate.

Now I'm off to enjoy down time before the Bloggers Meetup tomorrow.

"Wondering How Much I Can Take / Should I Try To Do Some More / 25 Or 6 To 4"

If you haven't noticed, my new musical discovery is Chicago. The title is from "25 or 6 to 4," a song about songwriting, not drugs as many people claim. It can describe being a college student, too. Well, at least how I feel about going on additional classes after graduating this December.

Seems I get the interest in Chicago from my father. Growing up, I know there were some Chicago LPs in my parents' collection. I just never knew who the belonged to. I figured they belonged to my father after reading how Chicago got their big break from the success of Blood, Sweat, and Tears. I know my father is a BST fan. Yesterday, because I'm an impatient fool, and I had a Best Buy gift card I hadn't used yet, I went to Best Buy and bought The Very Best of Chicago: Only the Beginning. This covers the years from 1969 to the early 1990s. My father thought it was cool that I got it. The other greatest hits CD I got only covers the 1980s. I realized I'd be missing out on "Just You 'n' Me" and afore mentioned "25 or 6 to 4."

It was interesting to find out it's not Peter Cetera, but Jason Scheff on "Will You Still Love Me." They sound much alike. The only Chicago song from the post-Cetera days I knew of was the Bill Champlin sung "Look Away."

Today is the first day of classes, and I am already tired. It's from being out in the heat working the ACM cookout. I wasn't too pleased with how things got started in the morning during set up. In the middle of the cookout, I didn't get to help as I had my first class. Today I had my first Meteorology class. The professor is Lee Haywood of WSAV. Some people realized they recognized him but didn't know for sure until he said he also works at the station. We got a few things done in class today. He told us he's getting sick of saying the same thing every morning: it's going to be a hot day. We laughed because we can agree on the being sick of the heat!

I just had the Dean of the School of Computing congratulating me on the cookout. He said the ACM chapter is getting a lot done so far. He asked when the new photos will be up. I told him Monday. And Joey complimented me on a photo of me I added in the ACM collage. That made my day. A girl always likes a compliment.

Tonight, I still have a class. My E-Commerce class is meeting for the first time. I'll know a few of the guys in the class. That should be good for me. *Smile*

And finally, the Thursday Threesome - Going out to Dinner:

Onesome: Going out-- means what? Deal with this and plan that and...? ...or can you just leave and hit it ... where? Hmmm... Where is "out" for you? Anyplace that isn't home. I dress according to what I'll be doing activity wise and the weather. I wanted to dress up for the first day of school today, but with the heat and the outdoor cookout, I dressed in khaki shorts and t-shirt.

Twosome: "...to-- the dogs?" Is that just a strange expression? ...or do you 'get' it? What's the most curious expression you've heard or you use and others don't 'get'? I get it. I did hear a good one from Joey today about sweating like a prostitute in church. It was pretty hot today.

Threesome: Dinner-- bells and chuck wagon triangles: what sound means food to you? Okay, okay, sure, the ice cream truck counts <g>! Dishes banging against each other. The horn honking. Meat sizzling. I'm hungry but the heat zapped out my appetite.

"No Need to Hit Me with an Attitude / Because I Haven't Got the Time"

I just have to say I'm on a Chicago kick right now. I woke up at least once during the night to sing the Chicago song that was on the XM radio I had on. I think I sang "Will You Still Love Me." I'm not certain. I just know for sure it was Chicago. Now if the Greatest Hits album I ordered would get here, I'd be a happy person. *Smile* And Richard Marx has started video blogging on MySpace. *Smile* Check it out!

I had a really busy day at school today. I worked on my Senior Project. I have 4 of the 10 pages complete. I'm not worried about it. I'll get it done. I also got Joey from his house and brought him to campus. We went over most of the campus posting flyers for the ACM cookout on Thursday and Friday. If you'll be on the Armstrong Campus between 11 AM and 2 PM on those days, stop be the space between Victor and Gamble Halls and the Science Center and pick up a bite to eat. It's our biggest fund raiser of the year.

After spending the nearly 3 hours hanging the flyers, I let Joey drive my car back to his place. Now, that's trust. He's kind of like the older brother I never had. He tried to tell me how to drive my car, knowing I haven't driven the standard transmission that long. Nearly everything he said went against what my father said. *Sigh* I told him I can drive it if I don't think about itm, which is what my father told me. And both of them have tried to get me to do stuff as I drive. All it does is makes me think!

I spoke to many of the professors today. I spoke to the 3 that I'll get references from. They all agreed to do it. *Smile* Now, to start the process as soon as I can. I saw Joey's boss, too. We stopped into the Writing Center so Joey could talk to her as we did the flyers. She saw me and noticed my face looked different. Not a bad different, more like a happier different. I told her I was looking into the MS of CS and that I have been using Proactiv on my skin. She said her daughter may have some extra since it didn't work for her daughter. She told me if she had it, she'll send it my way. She said she's always thought I had nice skin. The Proactiv has made a world of difference for me. My skin has been nice, except for all the breakouts. Now that I've lessen the breakouts, my face feels better, making me feel better. I guess I'm smiling more.

If you notice in the side panel, I've added the buttons to BlogSavannah and The Creative Coast. I may not be the best known blog in Savannah, but I'm certain I'm one of the oldest in town. I've been doing this for over 7 years now. And if you're in the Savannah area and into blogging, don't forget the little Blogger Meetup we're having this Saturday! It's the first that Gennie and I have developed, but we hope won't be our last. It's just going to be causal. If you have any questions, let me know; I'll try to answer them ASAP.

More Info on the Master's Degree.

I spoke with the professor that handles the MS in CS at Armstrong. Seems he's heard all about me from his honey, who I just happened to have had as one of my professors in IT. He told me what classes he could waive and what classes I would have to take. It would take me about 3 years to get the MS. The first year would be for taking the CS classes I haven't taken in IT. He also told me I may feel overwhelmed, but not to let it get to me. There's much I'll have to do to prepare for entering grad school. He even told me about one IT student that attempted one of his upper level IT classes but couldn't do it. I wonder who that was! However, he said he believes I can get through it. My dad's willing to help me get through it. I might as well do it. And if I develop a love life between now and next August, well, my boyfriend will just have to live with it. We'll find a way to work around it. I'm doing it to better myself and to better the life of my future children.

Once I got home, I helped my dad with his computer. He wanted to know how to get his music on it. He didn't know all the features iTunes had to offer. He was surprised. I taught him how to import his CDs. He wants a bunch of his old music on it. He misses his vinyl collection and knows he'll probably not listen to it on vinyl again. Now, I'm just wondering which one of my parents is/was the Chicago fan. I recall seeing a copy of a Chicago album cover, I think Chicago II, in my parents collection. As for me, I have been on a 1980s Chicago kick. Now for that CD I ordered to come soon! I don't think I've felt this way since I got into Richard Marx 15 years ago!

One of Beth's friends just left the house. Before she and Beth both left, the friend and Beth were playing one of the karaoke games Beth has for the Playstation 2. I gave it a go for "Always Something There to Remind Me," "Take on Me," and "Girls Just Want To Have Fun." Boy do I suck at singing! However, I had fun, and that's the main thing. I did do better than Matthew on these songs, but I've known them longer than he has. He's 21. I'm 28. I've had more time to process them.

Mr. Right, According to Some Zodiac Quizzes:

Let the Stars Reveal Your Mr. Right:

You scored 50% Air
In romance, you're drawn to the qualities of an Air Sign. You're turned on by a man's intellect and sense of humor more than his net worth or fine physique. You desire a mate who will match you wit for wit and keep you up all night talking. Air Signs prefer to keep things light and even, so if you want love that's playful, you might be most turned on by a Gemini, a Libra or an Aquarius mate. Read more about these Sun Signs to discover more about their motivations and desires.

You scored 30% Fire
In romance, you're drawn to the qualities of a Fire Sign mate, someone ambitious, ardent and active. You don't like hesitant men -- you like a guy who'll take a chance and make the first move. Impatiently passionate, you need someone who will show you a good time -- and the world. You have a good chance of finding happiness with an Aries, a Leo or a Sagittarius man. Read more about these Sun Signs to discover more about their motivations and desires.

You scored 20% Water
In romance, you lean toward qualities exhibited by Water Signs. You seek a mate who is kind and compassionate, not afraid to feel, someone to whom you can really bare your soul. You appreciate romance and sentiment, and though the man you long for may be a bit shy or innocent, he is very, very generous and open-minded. You'd probably love to be with a Cancer, a Scorpio or a Pisces lover. Read more about these Sun Signs to discover more about their motivations and desires.

You scored 0% Earth
In romance, you lean toward qualities exhibited by Earth Signs. You're turned on by affluence and opulence. While you crave status and security, you also want a man with a sensual streak as strong as his stock portfolio. You like to take things slowly and make informed decisions, so you may find a Taurus, a Virgo or a Capricorn lover to be the sexiest match for you. Read more about these Sun Signs to discover more about their motivations and desires.

Yet, this quiz doesn't take into account my sign.

And Tickle says:

Shawn, the best match for your personality is Leo

Leo, the Lion (July 23 to August 22): This generous and faithful partner is just your type. Initially, a Leo may catch your eye with their outgoing ways and flamboyant personal presence. But as you get to know them, you're even more likely to be drawn to your Leo's strength and loyalty. Be aware, people born under this sign are known for seeking pleasure at every turn. Typically, they aren't afraid to take risks to get what they want. This can-do, forceful nature can make Leos seem a bit domineering at times. However, a Leo partner will also usually be very willing to work through any problems that arise between the two of you. In the bedroom, you'll likely find the Lion to be a romantic lover with an ample sex drive. This is just another aspect of their love for life, attention, and fun.

Although Leo is your strongest Zodiac Match, your responses indicate there are a number of other astrological signs that you're highly compatible with.

And this was all for fun. *Laughing*

Remember When MTV Played Music?

Neither do I, but that's simply because my mother banned MTV for us when I was a child. I missed out on a lot.

Seems there were a lot of decent videos back then. Here's the "Indiana Jones"/Casablancaesque video for Chicago's "Along Comes a Woman":

And growing up, I always thought David Rasche and Peter Cetera looked like.
