"You Wouldn't Believe The Celebrities Who Did Cameos! Dustin Hoffman, Michael Jackson. Of Course, They Didn't Use Their Real Names, But You Could Tell It Was Them."

That quote popped into my head as I saw The Simpsons Movie today. There aren't that many, if any, cameoes in the real Simpsons movie, but I got an "Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie" feel. Now, A. Brooks, a regular guest star, was part of the film. None of the other regular guest stars have vocals.

I saw the movie with my father. We really enjoyed it. *Smile* I think our favorite was anything dealing with Spider Pig:

We laughed a lot at this flick. It's like a regular Simpsons episode, but just longer. The deal with this is they could do things they don't have the liberty to do on network TV. And yes, you see Bart's parts. If you love the Simpsons, you have got to see it. And they stayed true things in the series, like Marger and Homer's song, "(They Long to Be) Close to You."

And my car has A/C! My dad had a few extra bucks this week, so we got the A/C in my car fixed. My car is my dad's secondary car. Since he drives it, he wants to be comfortable in it. I'm not going to complain. It blows COLD. It blows so cold, we used it on the low settings today. It also had an oil and filter change. It cost less to do all the work than I thought. That's good. My car insurance is due. I have to stay insured since my dad uses the car.

Movie and A/C. Not a bad weekend. *Smile*

The Thursday Threesome on Friday: Lettuce and Tomato

I was so busy yesterday, I forgot the Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: 'Lettuce'-- talk of salads and dressings: Is plain green your thing? ...or do you like 'stuff' mixed in or scattered over the top? ...and how about the dressing: what's leading your list this year? I'm not a big salad eater. I haven't found a dressing I like, either. I have been trying to increase my lettuce intake by eating it with my tacos and sandwiches that are quite tasty. However, I hate how it tastes like dirt.

Twosome: and-- how about those Mets, -eh? Actually, baseball's doing okay this week, with basketball, football and cycling having the problems. Is there any sports news you'd care to comment on? My Atlanta Braves did not give up #754, #755, and #756. Sure, we split the series, but none of our guys went into the record book.

Threesome: tomato-- and lettuce: the perfect toppings for that hamburger someone will cook up for you at a Labor Day picnic in another month or so? ...or perhaps you have another set of condiments you like on your meat or tofu? I like ketchup on my meat.

More weird dreamness. Yes, I know dreamness is not a word. However, according my beloved American history professor, neither was normalcy until Warren G. Harding used it for his 1920 election campaign. In this case, dreamness is a perfectly cromulent word.

I dreamt I was looking at a bunch of town homes with some people. It was a huge town home. And nice. And the chick with me told me the guy with me like me. And all I could thing was what? I didn't know what to do. I woke up before the issue was resolve. All I can take away from the dream is I want that town house!

Dear Bobby,

Bless your heart, but Puerto Rico is not in New York. Also, Guam is not in Hawaii. But thank you for the zip code table! *Smile*

I spent most of my day going through a zip code table that Bobby prepared for some of the group projects we did a year+ ago. The way he set it up was the best way to handle zip codes, thus cities and states, in a database. I agreed with him way back in database in 2005 on this issue. If you know the zip code and the street address, your mail should be delivered. Now that I need the zip code stuff, I have to go through it. I've got to transfer it from MSSQL to MySQL. In fact, the entire database I did for my Senior Project was originally designed in MSSQL. However, I'm using MySQL for the project. Since the zip code table is so massive, I decided to go through it. I saw he only had 50 states. There are at least 58 states, territories, and dependencies that use the United States Postal Service. And in the table, Puerto Rico is listed as being in New York. So, I had to fix that. I looked up the additional territories and dependencies and added them to the table, as well as fixed the state code for their assigned zip codes. I have a few other things I'll need to check, as well, on that table.

The zip code table is the only thing for a past project I am reusing for my Senior Project. Zip codes are so important to not just my project, but most projects requiring US addresses, that reusing it makes sense. All the other data and databases will be original and designed by me. In addition to that, the PHP will mainly be mine. Sure, I'm using web sources to understand certain commands, but I am taking the PHP and adapting it to my needs. The final project is mine. And if someone wants to learn from it later, looking at my code, that's fine. I don't mind at all.

Most of my day was spent working on the data. I did spend a few minutes in the Writing Center with the ex-boss. I gave her the files I promised, as well as picked up the ACM poster presentation that was promised to us. It was my job to get it and take it over to the ACM lounge. Today was the day I could finally get it. I also researched information on the university exit exam I must take. The school will contact me with dates. I also found out when bookstore credit will be available. August 2nd. So, I did have a productive day.

And while I was on campus, my Senior Project Advisor, who is the Department's interim head, stopped me and asked me was I thinking about getting a Master's degree. I told him I've been thinking about it. One day I want to go; the next day, I want to get a job anywhere. Personally, I think the professors want to keep me at Armstrong. *Laughing* He's the second IT professor that wants me to get my CS Master's at "home." Decisions, decisions. I told him the truth: I want to get my own place. That's my current goal.

"Hold On To Whatever Will Get You Through"

I got a haircut/trim today. Looking at the photos from last week, I decided my hair was getting a little too long. Looking back at times in my life, as an adult, I'm not happy when my hair is long. It looked great long back in 1991 when I was 12. I should dig up one of those photos. However, not so much not. Plus, it's hard to maintain when it's long. Today, I got the courage to get it done. Lindsey told me of the place near school that she goes and gets her hair done. I went and told her I was going to do it. She went on her lunch break and we both got our hair done. *Smile* It's at a much more manageable length. Yes, two inches does make a difference.

I spent parts of my day at the Writing Center and in a classroom. Lindsey was studying for a test and asked me to help her, since it's IT stuff. I gave her a crash course in the different type of computer languages categories and system analysis basics. When I wasn't socializing today, I work on the database part of my senior project. I couldn't finish everything. The Internet went out at school. The whole school. I thought it was the IT lounge, since earlier in the week, Lindsey had 'Net when I didn't. We realized it was school wide when Lindsey came and asked me. We still had the school Intranet working, so Lindsey got school e-mails keeping tabs of the outage. The 'Net won't be back until after midnight today. Seems a fiber optic cable a mile from school was snipped. It put a damper on everyone. Lindsey couldn't talk to her husband. I couldn't research SQL tips. And at one point, I was going to take Joey home so he could use the 'Net so he could finish his group project. I even offered him my phone to check his e-mail, but Yahoo and my phone don't work. I love my cell phone for the Internet, but I don't want a Blackberry. I dread the day I'll get one of those.

Driving my car wasn't too fun today. I stalled a few times on the way and from to McDonald's. McDonald's isn't far from school. At least I didn't panic. Either my father or Joey, I can't remember, remarked that at least I didn't panic when I stalled. I've got that going for me. I've only driven that car with 3 other people in the passenger seat: my father, Joey, and Leslie. All three can drive a standard transmission. Today, I was going to hand Joey my keys to drive. I guess that's trust on my part. Also, if I can get out of driving, I will do it. Back in the days I first had IJAC, I'd wasn't comfortable driving it. So, when Nicki I traveled to Jacksonville or Orlando for boybands and spring training baseball, I'd let Nicki do the driving. It took time for me to get use to IJAC. And it's going to take time to get used to Bumper, the name Nicki gave the car.

Ever Re-Read Something You Wrote…

Several days, weeks, or even years later and have a good chuckle about it, especially when you find more information related to your writing after the fact? I had that happen tonight and had a good laugh. Whether it's true or not, just the thought of the writing and the information together gave me a good chuckle. I needed laugh. *Laughing*

I got much more work done on my Senior Project today. I had business this afternoon at school, so I spent most of the day out there. It may not look like I did much work on my Senior Project, but once I get these idea down and working in PHP, I can code the real stuff. I was a dolt at one point and coding an if statement that printed an open wrong. I had the word SELECTED on the wrong side of a quotation mark. It made a difference. On the wrong side, my code didn't work. On the proper side, my code did work. Live and learn. *Smile* I got a bit more work done on my project at home. Tomorrow, I'll work on it a bit more. I don't have to be on campus tomorrow, but I'm more likely to do work on my project while out there, even if it's only 2 hours work.

I assisted in the Writing Center today. No, I didn't tutor anyone. I probably could in a pinch, even after the 2 years I've been gone. I stopped in this morning to print something. The ex-boss asked if I could help with with a password change. At the moment, I couldn't do it, but I knew she'd have to do the password change with a web form. Later in the day, I stopped to talk to Joey, and I stopped to talk to her as well. She asked that I get together with Joey, since we're both IT majors, and try the password thing again. Joey and I helped her get it done. He understood what I was trying to do this morning, and we got the information and helped the boss get it done. *Smile* Earlier, I was trying to help Joey with his Senior Project, by letting him know what to expect to do his first semester. I found the Writing Center site had some outdated links. *Laughing* I'm going to guess that's going to be Joey's job this fall to fix. He remarked he's going to get me to help, since I'm still on campus and have a clue of what's going on with that site. After all, I did finalize the HTML on the OWL submission page for the site.

I also told Joey and the boss that I found some files from when I worked there. They are the handouts that are all cute and pretty and are basically my current mark still left on the Writing Center. I'm going to take them in and hand them over. I have no reason to really have them. Besides, they might be needed. The ex-boss wants to add more handouts to the website. They would be a start and a good template for additions. Besides, I'd like to delete them, but I wouldn't feel right unless I hand them over. While I was in the Writing Center, I found out the next Writing Center conference, like the one I attended, will be held in Savannah. I just told the ex-boss to make sure that the riverboat dinner really is a riverboat dinner.

The only thing that peeved me off today is the incompetence of the Technology Development Committee head from 2 years ago for our ACM chapter. Last year, Aric, the head I replaced, had none of the files and information from the previous year. I was not happy about that. I don't think Aric was too happy with that. Now that I've taken Aric's place, I've inherited his problems and new problems. We're going to us the hosting we used 2 years ago. However, we don't have a password to the host! Our faculty advisor does not have the password. Aric's predecessor never gave the advisor the changed password. I know as sure as hell Aric doesn't have it. That was a big deal for us. I don't understand what's so hard in making sure the faculty advisor has the password. But, it's typical of this guy, and yet he's a gem in the department's eye. *Yuck!* Thank goodness he graduated!

In My Lothar Pose

In my Lothar Pose
Moblogged by peachy92.

This picture was taken today in the school's writing center. I finally took over my car and spent all day at school. While most people might thing that's nuts, I needed it. I had to get out of the house. This picture is dedicated to my old co-worker, David. We'd call David Lothar. This is the type of hat he'd wear.

I spent quite a bit of time at the Writing Center. I went there first thing when I got to school to use the color printer. The ex-boss, not the one that fired me, was there working on a password issue. She asked me for help. I tried to help her the best I could. Honestly, it was something I had no control of, or else I would have done it.

After my printing, I went upstairs and worked on my Senior Project for about and hour before Joey got me to come down back to Writing Center, where he works. I needed to go, since they had 'Net access and the lounge didn't at the moment. I needed to download some programs to do some graphic manipulation.

Next thing I know, Joey and I were at the MCC building inspecting one of the boss's students' presentation. Some of the students, which are IT majors, know Joey, and he helped them with their topic of the ACM. Joey took me, since we're both ACM officers, to see. I ended up helping the guys in their presentation. They had no clue about ACM associate memberships. Being that I know some background on the boss, I answered her question in a way she'd understand and made it a personal answer. But damn it, Joey got credit for the work I did that the guys used. *Frown*

Joey and I had other ACM issues to handle today, like me getting $38.00 from the cashier's office. I ended fronting the money for my ACM national membership and helped Joey with his, as well. Each membership cost $19.00. So, we went and got Chris to authorize the reimbursement, and I got my money back.

Once I got home from school, my dad and I went to Jalapeno's. My meal today just wasn't that good. I won't order that again. And, in my adventures with my car, I only stalled 3 times today. Of course, someone was with me 2 of the times I stalled, so I looked dumb. Then again, I'm not dumb. At least I can drive the car! One of the Braves announcers admitted in the past week he can't drive a manual transmission vehicle. I can. *Smile*

So Savannah Bloggers, Are You In?

Gennie posted about it, and I've alluded to it, but now, it's for real: A Savannah Blogger meetup. We're planning on having it out in Pooler at the Ozzy's location off Pooler Parkway. This isn't far from I-16, and parking won't be scarce, like it is downtown. We're still working on the date, and plans might change, but we need to hear from you! You can e-mail me, leave me a comment, or contact Gennie. The more, the merrier!

And if you are in Savannah and haven't tried Ozzy's, you should. Besides a location out in Pooler, they have one in Sandfly, next to Jalapeno's. The fare is American style.
