First Batter

Last night, I got together with my married friends, Lindsey and Chris. Lindsey is the secretary for the IT department. She's closer in age to me than the rest of the department. So, we've become friends, just talking when she's not busy, and sitting with each other at Wesley lunch. And she's brought her husband, Chris, to the out-of-school Wesley events, so I've gotten to know him, too. So yesterday, we all got together and went to the Savannah Sand Gnats game against the Rome Braves. We had fun. It was also another fireworks night.

The car I had to use yesterday was my car. I'm skittish when it comes to driving my car. I am afraid I am going to wreck the transmission. You see, it's a manual transmission. Until this year, I had never driven a stick shift car. Because Nicki's car was the best value for the money I got from the loss of my dear Malibu, I purchased her 2002 Ford Focus. My dad and I got the car fixed. Nicki had ruined the transmission. So, because of that, I'm afraid I'll ruin the transmission. I can't afford a new transmission. As a result, my dad's been using the car. Well, he's got to use his truck for the next 2+ weeks, so if I want to go off, I have to take the car. The Jeep and van will be shared between my other siblings. Last night, I had to take the car. I stalled a few times. My problem seems to be getting enough gas to get the car going when I'm in first gear. I know I'll get it down as I drive the car more.

The past few nights, I've been playing iSketch with a few other TotalFarkers. Last night, I had to draw the word "broad." Do you know how hard that was? I think 2 people got it. I drew a stick figure with boobs. And drawn on the stick figure was hair, a boa, some high heels, and money in the hand. I drew a hooker! I got every type of word for hooker for the guess as a result. At 1:45 AM in the morning, I could not think of another way to draw that word! If you want a fun, interactive game to play, try that.

Threesome: Last-- year did you think you'd be doing what you ended up doing for the holiday yesterday? ...or did plans change a bit? Nope, just as planned. A simple day at home watching baseball and having grilled hamburgers with my dad.

I've had a fun and productive day.

The productivity can be found in my site. I upgraded my e-mail contact form such that if a person doesn't fill it out all the way, it loads a form explaining the e-mail isn't complete. The form will also display the information that has already been inputted into the e-mail. I'm glad I figured that out last week. I finally got around to getting it done for my site today. I also looked over my skinning script today and fixed that. That means skins are fixed! You are no longer forced to use the Retro Geek skin. Seems my site was switched to a different server. I never knew that until Sunday when I was scanning an e-mail sent to me via a test site I have uploaded at the moment. I guess my scripts requiring cookies died when the switch happened. When I get a chance, I'll have to look over my links scripts and see if I can fix that. I also updated my CD collection page while I was at it. The CD page is mainly for me, but I like how it shows how broad my musical taste is.

Beth went to Hilton Head with Ben for the 4^th of July holiday. With that, her car is available for me to use while she's gone. And I used it. I decided to get out of the house and go to the Savannah Sand Gnats game against the Columbus Catfish, Tampa Bay's Sally League affliate. I got some great photos with my camera from the first base seats. Like most of the Sand Gnats games I attend, they lost. The final score, after 7 innings, was 6-1. It was a nice night for a baseball game. It wasn't very hot. The team also had their 4^th of July fireworks display tonight. They were great. Fireworks have advanced over the years.

My 4^th of July will be spent with my father tomorrow. Beth's with her boyfriend. Nicki's working and Matthew will probably spend it with his girlfriend, Jessica. As to where they'll be celebrating, I don't know. For sure, my dad and I will be together. We'll have grilled hamburgers and chips, and he got himself all sorts of of cold salads to go with the dinner. It may be a small celebration, but it will be a good one.
