I
love YouTube. It has revolutionized Internet entertainment.
About 4 years ago, I mention in a post how growing up, TV sign offs scared me. I'm a child of Poltergeist. Not only did sign offs scare me, but around 11:00 PM, if the conditions were just right, I could hear the recording of "Taps" played from Headquarters during the time we lived at Ft. Bragg.
Well, YouTube has allowed me to not only talk about it, but I can now share the experience. I bring you some sign-offs of my childhood:
WKFT was the local independent station in Fayetteville. This sign off in from 1993. I was 14. WKFT was the station I watched on weekends when nothing else was on. At the time, we only had 40 stations on cable. There was bound to be nothing on Nickelodeon and Vh1 some days.
This is from WRAL in 1989. We had just moved to Ft. Bragg at this time.
From WPFT in 1988, the year before we moved to North Carolina. I probably saw this one as well.
In the Fayetteville area, we had not one, but 2 NBC affiliates. WECT in Wilmington was carried on our cable system. Somehow, their sign off it the one I do remember watching the most during my North Carolina days. Later in my time in NC, the image shown during sign-off was some sort of space themed background.
Yes, I am bored on a Saturday afternoon and thought I'd browse YouTube. I don't know how I came across this subject, but I did. Just thought I'd share, even if it's just for me.
This song is my favorite of their singles:

Onesome: Laundry-- Ah, the relaxing way to spend a day, -eh? ...or not. "Laundry, bane or boon?", the question of the week! I am backed up on my laundry. It needs to be done. thankfully, I have enough clothes to last for 2 weeks.
Twosome: Stain-- Okay, we'll work on cleaning this Thursday: what's your best stain removal tip? (Mark, "buying a new shirt" does not count...) Spray and Wash. Lemon Ajax. Either will do.
Threesome: Removal-- So you're doing dishes (presuming you don't nuke everything on paper plates and use plastic utensils): what's the hardest food to remove from day to day stuff (cookware doesn't count <g>!). Dried tomato stuff. My dad gets on us to rinse our plates. I do. However, I have been lazy and have let the dog lick my plate clean when I have finished my meal this month. It makes PupPup happy, and it saves work on the dishes!

Next time you decide to park your big honkin' truck in the Victor Hall/Science Center parking lot, could you park in a place that's not so crowded as much? It sure was hassle to come into that lot and have to make sure my rental car didn't hit your truck that was sticking out partly in the middle of the driving lane, especially where in the lot you parked. Are you -- I'll just stop this now.
I can't stand when people can't park straight.
My day today was spent working on some ACM work. Joey, our new secretary, and I spent about 3 hours this afternoon looking through a year's worth of ACM photos, as well as discuss some issues and ideas for the upcoming year. I may graduate in December, but I can do all that I can to make the ACM a success. We even spoke to a few CS professors about our ideas and to try to get their help.
I did work a bit on my Senior Project today. I mainly dealt with session variables. I'm scared about getting this project done. I'm worried I won't be able to do things like a login page. However, I'm not going to worry about it now.
The future's so bright, I've gotta wear shades.
Oh, and if you can, go watch the Robot Chicken Star Wars Special.
Absolute riot!

I loved
the Monkees as a kid. Yes, I am of the revival generation. My mother wouldn't let me watch MTV as a child, save for the Monkees. She grew up watching the Monkees, so she knew the show was safe for her kids. Next thing I know, the show was on our local station and then Nickelodeon. Nicki and I had access to my mother's vinyl records and 45s, so we'd played the music all the time.
After hearing about the talk about keeping the Monkees out of Hall of Fame got me into listening to them today. They may have started a fabricated band, but grew to become musicians and are still well known 40 years later. I say let them in.
And for more enjoyment, more Monkees:
