Smack Me

Sand Gnats/Tourists Game
Uploaded by peachy92.

I just have some much going on in my life. I need a break.

Yesterday was busy. I spent most of the day on campus. I had a meeting with the lady from the church that I'm doing my Senior Project site on. After that, I hung out in the ACM lounge. I had a good time. A few of us in there chipped in and got a pizza for lunch. At one point, Chris came in and remarked that if I married someone with the last name of Love, my last name would be Latta-Love. We got into a discussion of what names I shouldn't marry into.

Got the Masters on over here in High Def. Actually ,my dad does. It's the only golf I ever seen him watch. Looks like they are struggling this year. I miss Augusta. I spent most of the 1980s living in Augusta. I didn't have Spring Break as a child. I did get a week off from school, but we called it Masters Week.

After my time at school, I went to the Savannah Sand Gnats opening day game. We played the Asheville Tourists. The Gnats lost 7-4, but it was a good game. I got in for free. Some guy had 2 extra tickets. He gave me one. I also won a free sub from Subway. A certain player is deemed to be the strikeout man of the night. Everytime he strikes out, 10 free coupons are given out. They guy struck out 3 times, so 30 coupons were given away to random people. After the game, a great fireworks display went off. I think the game was sold out. Many people just couldn't find a seat. I ended up sitting with my neighbor. She's got a season ticket. And her husband is the PA for the team. She didn't know I was a baseball fan. She realized how big of a fan I was when I yelled they should send the Tourists' catcher back to the Instructional League.

Today was a busy day, too. the first half of my day was spent on campus working on the IIR project I'm a team member of. I did some website work. I also took photos of a couple of the guys and explained to the (That ball! It should have gone into the hole!) guys about Tech Fest and the poster presentation. One of the newer guys was trying to tell me there would be no Internet access and that we should take a projector. He knows this from attending the first two. Well, I attended last year's event. I remember you were lucky to have any space. Taking a projector is just stupid. And it was I that signed up for the presentation. I remember it asking if I needed access. Plus, I went to another TCCi event this year and we had Internet access. They'll work on it. I just think I was peeved over the projector idea. CS majors. *Rolling My Eyes*

The rest of my time on campus was spent working on my Senior Project report that's due on Wednesday. I got quite a bit done, so that's a monkey off my back. This weekend will be spent working on my Ethics paper.

"I'm Not Waiting In Line For You"

Last night, I was listening to my iTunes collection and turned on this song by Train. I think it's my favorite on the album.

A majority of my day was spent finishing up on the Ethics Presentation my group had to give today. We spent 2½ hours on finishing it up. We went through a second walk-thru on it. The professor saw the group commandeer an empty classroom to work on the project. We timed the walk-thru to be 27 minutes - 7 minutes too long. So, we had to sit down and figure what to cut out. We got it done. I have no clue how long our presentation was, but we kept it short and simple for a broad topic like Internet fraud. The best part was a last minute thought by my groupmate, Mike (and this is a different Mike than He Who Shall Not Be Named and should be out of my life now (I hope)). Mike remarked that Internet fraud is just a new way of defrauding people. That reminded me of one of the Computer Ethic gurus mentioned prior in our class. Her thought was the same as Mike's. So, we quickly incorporated her thoughts into the presentation. The professor loved it! She was ready to ask us about that question at the end of our presentation, but we usurped her with our conclusion. Our only flaw was a typo in the slide. After the class, she told us we got an A on the project. We put a lot of work into it and it paid off.

Just before the real presentation, we had a problem. The projector in the classroom died! We spent 20 minutes having Ben, one of the School of Computing's gophers, get a new projector. The backup project was broken as well. Dr. Reed took this as a chance to make announcements to the class. Chris, the ACM advisor, was with Ben at the time, so he came in the room to assist Dr. Reed in the announcement. They dragged me into giving the announcements as well, since I'm a student that in one way or another has had experience with all the events being announced.

The only other thing I did today was go to the colloquium. Today's topic was about haptic feedback applications for education and training. It was interesting, but not a topic I'd research.

"'Cause You're a God / and I am Not"

How did my day go? Let's see:

Yeap, that's a good summary.

I started my moring going to school early and worked out at the gym. It's the first time I've been able to get to the new gym at school. I spent my workout time on a stationary bike riding the equivilent of 4.25 miles on it. I took my time on it. I have my iPod to entertain me.

Most of my day was spent working on the group project and goofing off. Charles, one of my group partners, works in the CS department. He couldn't leave campus for lunch, so he asked me to get some for him. I got myself lunch as well. At the time, I was going some clean up on our project. After I finished that work, I played a card game on my computer and turned on iTunes.

A few minutes later, Bobby and Renee came in the lounge. Sean and Wes, other students I know in the School of Computing, were in the lounge with me. We started talking about not wanting to go to class, Pink, Alanis Morissette, Ryan Renolds, and toliet seat ettiquette. We talk about anything, since we've all know each over for so long. We all had a great laugh watching the Alanis Morissette "My Humps" video. If you haven't seen or heard it, it's funny. I don't think Wes got it. The original song is dumb as it is. Alanis takes it and makes it into a ballad. As a result, she makes it look even dumber than the original. It's genius!

Later, when it time was project work, I ran into Charles. It was while we did that that the embarassment parts comes in. This guy, I recently realized I like (and have been trying to fight the feeling), walks by us. He gets pulled into our conversation. I have also e-mailed him personally about another thing. The embarassing thing was asking him was he going to the banquet! *Banging My Head Against The Wall* I didn't ask him as a date per se. Just wanted to know if he was going. He's not, since he's so busy, which will really suck if he gets an award that night, which I think he will. That's just my personal opinion, however. Thankfully, since Charles was there, it may have come across to know who all is going. The 3 of us have worked on other things together. At least this interesting guy is going to try help me with hints on grad school. We had a conversation about the GRE today.

And yeah, I haven't been trying to fight these crushy feelings. Now is not the time for them. I'm so close to getting out of school. I don't need the sad parts of such feelings back into my life. Joey, another guy in my group project, needed a ride home from school. I muttered under my breath about Interesting Guy not going to banquet. Joey cons me into confessing who it was I was talking about. *Blushing* Joey didn't mock me, thank goodness. He told me to go for the guy.

I'll shut up now and give you the Alanis video:

It's Opening Day!

Alice Gordon's Grave
Uploaded by peachy92.

I missed the Atlanta Braves game over the Philadelphia Phillies. My Ethics professor went over to clubhouse at the dorms to watch the game. At the beginning of class, she told us the Braves won. *Smile* I can't believe I'm going to see them next weekend! *Smile* Boy have I missed baseball season! At the moment, I have the Boston Red Sox/Kansas City Royals game on. KC is winning at the moment.

I spent most of my day at school. First, I actually did some paying work. As a result, we IIR students are having a meeting on Friday to discuss things, like the Tech Fest I'll be taking a poster display to this year. I also have to get photos of the newer people working on the project. I've also got to find 2 other people to present the project with me. Senior Project met today. Renee and I spoke with Dr. Lau about the Tech Fest and job prospects. Renee said I was lucky in the fact that I'm a single woman, I can go anywhere. As a woman that's about togaed married, she's stuck in this area at the moment. If only she knew all the fears and stuff racing in my mind. There's a lot going in my mind at the moment. As for Ethics class,we had more presentations to watch.

Wesley lunch was fine. We had a church bring us lunch today that hadn't done it before. I felt different today. I placed my hair in a barrette. We girls, Jessie, Lindsey, and I, talked about how do you meet a boy today. We agree it comes when you're not looking. I hope. It's gotta be my turn soon to find a guy.

I have a minor sunburn on my face and arms. Yesterday, I went to Laurel Grove and downtown to take some photos. This is a shot of Alice Gordon's grave. Alice was Juliette Gordon Low's sister. The quote pictured gets me every time. I hope it's true. After those trips, I went out to look at new homes being built out near Port Wentworth/Pooler. They are officially in the city of Savannah. I found this brick house I loved. Of course, it was the most expensive house!
