I Worked the Tybee Marathon.

Tybee Marathon
Uploaded by peachy92.

Most of my day was spent working the Tybee Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K run. I was out on Tybee just after 7 AM. IT WAS COLD! *Freezing* I am still freezing from today. My skin dried out from the cold, windy day. I thought I had dressed warmly, but I hadn't.

I worked as the ACM group helping the event. The volunteers got a special shirt, and the ACM is mentioned on the shirt. It's a beige color with the Cockspur Island lighthouse on it.

So, my work there was mainly as a course monitor and cheerleader. ACM was split into 2 course monitoring checkpoints. Charles and his daughter worked the checkpoint at the museum. The rest of us worked the checkpoint at Taylor and Pulaski Streets. This checkpoint was behind the lighthouse. Some of the photographers covering the event also came to my checkpoint area to get some great photos. You could get the lighthouse in the shot of the runners going by, just like this.

They had 3 races today. First was the 5K run. As soon as that finished, they started the marathon and half-marathon. The 5K run went towards the lighthouse. The others came from the lighthouse. The main job as a course monitor was to direct the people in the correct direction of their race, cheer them on, and help anyone as needed. No one needed help. Many people thanked us for being cheerleaders. Some people remarked they wish they had my enthusiasm. I claimed it all on being a Girl Scout. *Laughing*

I didn't leave Tybee until 2PM. Once I got home, I had to warm up. I'm still cold. I have my shirt one and some pajama pants on. I did have socks on, but I warmed up during my nap today. I am still tired.

I've got pictures on Flickr and PIXels.

I am a Numbskull.

Dining at Sticky Fingers
Moblogged by peachy92.

Today has been a busy day. It started with helping some people for the Tybee Marathon. I said I would help some more tomorrow. It's been off an on raining all day, so I go wet as I did that.

Once I came home, I worked on some school work. After getting that done, I went back off. My first stop was to fill my dad's truck. After that, I decided to eat at Spanky's Southside, since I haven't eaten there in a while. Big mistake! I waited 5 minutes, and no one waited on me. I took a seat at one point. A couple came in after me. A server came to seat them. He just ignored me. I thought he would come back, but he didn't. That pissed me off, so I left. Spanky's lost a $14.00 check because 1) they didn't wait on me and 2) they served some people that should have been served after me. The bosses can blame their friendly staff today. *Rolling My Eyes*

So, I went to Sticky Fingers for lunch. Boy was it good! I got myself some potato skins and a BBQ sandwich. The skins are not your typical potato skins. These skins come with BBQ sauce and pulled pork. A plate of these skins are a meal in and of themselves. I didn't finish the skins and shared them with my dad when I got home. I didn't even finish the sandwich, either. It was loaded with BBQ, so I shaved some off the sandwich and brought it home. My dad ate that as well. He enjoyed it. We both like the Memphis style sauce of Sticky Fingers. It's a tomato based, not mustard based, BBQ sauce. For those that prefer mustard sauces, Sticky Fingers has a mustard sauce, too.

In between the Spanky's and Stick Fingers stops, I stopped at Wolf Camera in the mall. I got myself $60.00 of camera accessories. I got a tripod and 3 filters. Today's filters are the 80A, the Fog, and a 3x lens. Once I got home from school, I played with them. I'm going to have to learn how to use the filters.

School was fine. Found out I didn't do all the Graphics Design work for today. And I had forgotten my book, too! thankfully, another student shared his book with me, and we worked on it at the same time. He felt if we did it together, even as we did the work on our own, it would take faster since I could explain what to do. We got the work done. I also had to meet a Theater classmate to re-write a scene in everyday vernacular for the play Everyman. We have it written. I have to type it up and e-mail it to him, later. I also need to read the whole play for Tuesday's class.

As to why I'm a numbskull? I'm just not taking time to rest. After Valentine's Day, I will have it.

The Thursday Threesome: Slicing and Dicing

Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: Slicing-- your way through the fairways of life? Terrible metaphor, -eh? Do you have metaphor or simile that just drives you bonkers when you hear it? No, not really, since I speak in metaphors and similes all the time! Only the really academic, Savannah-wise, get my talk.

Twosome: and-- on and on and on. What's the duration of your 'long' phone calls? You know, the ones where you just chat and chat and chat? Guys, you may be able to pull an exemption on this one... About an hour. I'm just not that exciting.

Threesome: dicing-- up anything for the game this weekend? ...or are you taking advantage of the sales? ...or is it a case of "what game?" I don't know what we'll be having for the game. However, we will be watching in in HDTV!

Late to the Party,

But I thought I would just post some videos about the Un-Conference:

This one is the WTOC article:

And it seems it's spread across the Internet. TVSquad.com has an article about the WTOC article on the Un-Conference.

And here is a promotional video summarizing the Un-Conference:

In this summary video below, you can see me talking with a few people. When I talk, I like to use my hands. I wonder why I do that:

Come and Start a Run

For those wanting information on the 5K run (yes, I've gotten a hit for it, already), I've got it. The 3rd Annual Sweetheart 5K run, sponsored by Armstrong Atlantic's ACM chapter, will be held on the 10th of February at the AASU campus. Packet pick-up and registration time starts at 7:45 AM. The race will begin at 8:30 AM. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest couple, overall male and female winners, and age group winners. It's a fun time to be had at all. Proceeds from the race will go towards The Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

If you are interested in participating, pre-registration prices are $10.00 per individual and $15.00 per couple. Children under 18 can participate for $7.50. You will want to pre-register, as race day registration will be $15.00 per individual ($10.00 for 18 and under) and $20.00 per couple. Each participant will receive a t-shirt (while supplies last) at the beginning of the race and a red carnation at the end of the race. If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail sweetheart5K@gmail.com, or you can contact me. While I won't be working the event, I am a member of the ACM chapter. I will try to help you as much as I can.

Updated 1/31/2007 3:11 PM I just found out the run is postponed until March, due to some circumstances beyond the control of ACM. As soon as I know more, I'll let you know!

My day today was spent working on school work and helping with work for the 5K run. I'll be on St. Simons Island that weekend, so I won't be at the event. However, I did work at last year's event and it was a hit.

When I wasn't busy with school, I went to the bank today. I've got a car! I paid off the car I'm getting from my sister. As soon as we get the title, we'll be transferring it to my name. I also need to get it to the shop ASAP. I don't know if I'll learn to drive it in time for going to St. Simons Island. If I get it repaired, but I don't know how to drive it, I guess Nicki will be getting the car for the weekend. She can drive it. The main thing is that we will all have a vehicle to drive. No more sharing a car! It's been driving me up the wall!

Back to Business

Dr. Greenlaw
Uploaded by peachy92.

Today, we had our first ACM meeting of the Spring 2007 semester. I made sure I took my camera, as I am the ACM photographer. I wore my BlogSavannah stuff, to show it off to technoheads here on campus. The Dean of the School of Computer, Dr. Greenlaw, gave a lecture on his time as a Fulbright Scholar in Thailand last year. This picture is from the lecture. ACM is one of the few school things I'm deeply involved with. If anyone from the Savannah area that is in a computing-related field and would like to help our ACM chapter, please let me know! I am currently looking for any help we can get. We want to make our ACM chapter a great chapter. I have uploaded a few more pictures from today on Flickr. We try to have a meeting once a month, and will be sponsoring a 5K fun on the 10th. I won't be able to help with the run this year, but I am able to answer questions.

I spoke with my Ethics professor. She almost has our papers finished. She hopes to give them back today. Sounds like my paper did well. *Smile* As I was speaking to her, I mentioned that some of the topics mentioned in class could have been used in a discussion at BlogSavannah. I told her I wished I had spoken up about globalization and conceptual muddles.

As I woke up this morning, Nicki came in the house. She left Boston, MA, yesterday at 5 PM. She made it home about 10 AM. She and her friend, Courtney, drove all night to get home. Nicki brought me a few things from Boston. She got me some Red Sox stuff. She got me a pen, a baseball bat keychain, a postcard of Fenway Park, and a Boston B sticker. *Smile* *Play Ball!* Later, she'll show me pictures of the ballpark. She toured the outside of it. I think she had fun. It's making me look forward to going to Tacoma in May. However, I will be flying to Tacoma.

My financial aid money is in the bank, Now, I'm just waiting on that to be processed. I think I am the richest I have ever been in my life at this point. *Laughing* It won't last for long. I have things that must be bought with that money.

Updated 7:22 PM I got my ethics paper back in class. I made a 95 on it! *Smile*
