"I Am the [Queen] of Wishful Thinking"

I had my Who's Who Among Students interview today. The interview committee is headed by my Ethics professor from the summer. I was just accepted to another group she heads, so that could be something in my favorite. I applied to see if I could get in. I felt like an idiot in the interview, but I mainly came across as someone that isn't too secure in herself. I dressed up for the interview. My classmates noticed I was not in my usual garb. I hope that will be something in my favor, too.

I did have a bad day. As soon as I got out of my car before Calc class, I locked my keys in the car. I had to call me brother to save me. My Calc books and calculator were in it *Sigh* He came before class started. I didn't do too well on my test. *Frown* However, I had to have done better than a 55, like the test I took at this time last year. I hope I made a 75, at least. *Laughing* After the test, we had to optimize a box, missing a top, from a sheet of paper. The maximization was with the volume of the box. We were in groups for this, and my group did well. Out of the class, we had the box with the largest volume. (However, due to some miscalculations, another group was first declared the winner of the biggest volume.) I was able to get the formula for the box's volume written quickly, and another kid plugged in the formula to find the right amount of paper to cut from the box. After checking the boxes, the professor showed us how to do it with Calculus. Our measurement for the cutout was correct. *Smile* I did remember something from last year! *Laughing*

And now, for the Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: Off-- to do something productive? What are your spare time hobbies? ...or do you have a life <g>? I was asked this question today. I explained when I wasn't busy with school, I was working for a professor in the It department, helping my widower father, busy with either ACM or Wesley, or taking my own time at home.

Twosome: to see-- beyond the horizon? Where would you like to take your hypothetical 'unlimited' vacation? Can I just have an unlimited ticket for plane fare and go whenever I want? There are many places I want to see!

Threesome: the Wizard-- There's always (or should be) a fix-it wizard around the place; do you have one you can call on to take care of those minor repairs that crop up? ...or are you "it"? Depends on the thing. Computers? Me. Fixing things? My father. And if either one of use can't do it, nor have the time, we call someone else to come do it.

Soup's On!

Pasta e Fagioli
Uploaded by peachy92.

Tonight's dinner was some Pasta e Fagioli soup made by me and my father. He took care of the meat. I chopped the carrots, celery, and onions. We then placed them all into a crockpot. I watched the soup and added the final touch: the pasta. I could have done better on the onion chopping, and the soup could have used more beef stock, because it's low on broth. Considering this was our first attempt at this dish, it wasn't that bad. *Yum!*

As I went to the store to get some cooking ingredients and utensils, One of the private schools in town had a bunch of students in Wal-Mart. Why they were there, I don't know. One of the leaders of this school trip was an old high school classmate of mine. We exchanged waves as she was busy with her thing, and I was busy with mine.

I think I finally have all the software I need installed on this computer. My laptop's new cord come today, so I able to get the rest of the stuff I needed to transfer to this computer from it. My battery still's not charging, so I had to place my battery in my dad's computer to see if it would change. *Frown* However, I'm glad to know this computer is now set up and everything. *Smile* I also had to burn a disc of all my ACM photos for the upcoming ACM board being developed at school. I'm not developing it. *Laughing* Thank goodness! However, I'm the only one that can be contacted for photos.

I did go to school today to discuss Monday's movie. The more I think about it, the more depressing it is. It just brings back the depressing parts of my past. I didn't have the most depressing life, but it all wasn't a run in a prairie, full of daydreams, either. Some things I don't want to remember. I rather be happy. I like watching happy things and hearing happy songs.

And that's today's stuff in a nutshell. *Smile*

"Who Did You Think I Was?"

Last night in Film class, we watched Pather Panchali. It was kind of depressing. If I wanted to watch a poor family, I could just remember my childhood days. I know my family was better off, in those days, than the family in this film, but my family was not well to do in the 1980s. We had a nice house, but that took a majority of my father's paycheck. My family didn't become well off until my dad got out of the Army. I remember days were dinner would be buttered rice. I didn't need to watch it in movie form.

Today, my Special Topics class was cancelled, so I got to sleep in a bit. I went to Calc class. We prepared for Thursday's test. I shocked myself today. We went over a derivative of a hyperbolic function. I saw a pattern in this function, so I blurted out that if you replaced 3 with a 4 and 9 with a 16 in the original problem, you got the same answer, except the 4 took the place of the 3 in the answer. It's reasons like this one I'm in the Honors classes. When I made that remark, my professor was excited that I figured a pattern with the problem. He then asked me to asked me to explain what I saw in an X-A form. I now remember the derivative of certain hyperbolic function format. *Laughing*

Client/Server was okay. When I was socializing between classes, I was working on this assignment that's due next Tuesday. Now, if I can get my desktop computer totally working as I want, I'll be fine. I still have a lot of things to get off my laptop. The cord didn't come today. Maybe tomorrow.

My brother saw my new monitor today. He wants it, since it's bigger than his current monitor. He's not getting my monitor. $189.00 for this 17" flat screen was not a bad deal. He's got a job now; he can get one himself. He seems to forget I got this monitor from my dad's money as a way to help get me out of school. I saved money by rebuilding this computer, plus getting a new monitor and a wireless card. $253.00 for a rebuilt desktop or $1,000.00 for a new one? I'll go with the $253.00 computer. *Laughing* So will my dad.

Okay, off to do more work on this computer.

Here I Am At School…

Getting some software I need to do my Client/Server and upcoming Senior Project work at home. The refurbished computer is up and running in my room. *Smile* The desk has been built, by my father, and I installed the wireless card by myself. *Smile* Now, just to wait for my laptop's new charger to arrive at the house, and I should have that desktop all nice and cozy for my liking. Now, to find my Microsoft Office disc!

When I wasn't working on the computer yesterday, I worked on my bedroom. Mainly, it was getting Nicky’s stuff out arranging my stuff to my liking. I moved an old dresser of my father's into the room to perform 2 functions. One function is extra drawer space for my gaggle of clothing. The other function is a TV stand. After getting that dresser into the room, we moved Nicki’s dresser out of the room. The desk was then built and placed where Nicki’s dresser was. The room isn't finished yet, but it's livable for me.

Before coming to school, I had to stop and run an errand for my father: pay a bill. After I finish getting my software here at school, I have to run to the store, get Nicki some soup, since she's sick, and grab a quick dinner to make when I get home from Film class tonight. Looks like I don't have the time to make money until Friday. *Frown*
