"You Hide The Love That You're Not Willing Now To Give"

I just finished watching Holiday. I had to buy a Cary Grant box set to get the movie on DVD. That's the only way to get it at the moment. I haven't seen it in about 2 years.

The movie's 68-years-old, yet can still apply to today's society. For those that don't know the movie, it's about Johnny Case (Cary Grant) falling for Julia Seton. However, Julia and Johnny have different plans for life. Johnny wants to enjoy it. Julia wants Johnny to be like her father and make money. Julia's brother, Ned, and sister, Linda (Katharine Hepburn) are not the gems of their father's eyes. Ned's a drunk. Linda loves to be different. They get along better with Johnny than Julia does. In the end, Linda wins. She loves Johnny for who he is. Johnny leaves Julia when he realizes she wants to change him. Linda goes after him and they kiss at the end of the movie. Ned doesn't get to break from his father's clutches like Linda does, but he stands up to his father and Julia to make sure at least one Seton child is truly happy.

I love watching movies; I just hate movie theaters.

I spent my day, when not sleeping or watching playoff baseball, working somewhat on my room. It's such a wreck, but it's not just my stuff in that room. Nicki's stuff in there, too. I was able to throw some trash out, put clothes into 3 piles, and place some of Nicki's stuff into boxes. My plan is to take a dresser from Nicki's area, which used to be Matthew's, and place it in my room. I can use the additional space and use it as a TV stand. I plan to get a desk for the room, too. *Smile*

I also worked on a collage to be printed for the ACM booth for AASU Day. I tried to make it show all sides of the School of Computing. The people in the collage are diverse, save for Asians. I have 2 Asians in the collage. It's not like I didn't try. I don't have any Asians from the ACM shots I took this year. I can't recall seeing any. As for pictures from last year, I've been trying for months to get them, but no such luck. The only ones I have are the ones I took last year for my personal collection. I only got the Asians from some photos I had to get from a Google cache search from our old ACM site. *Frown* And the picture is so small because it was a small source picture to begin with! However, I think the collage looks nice. It shows us computer scientists, engineers, and information technologists doing stuff other than computer.

The Thursday Threesome: Up Too Late!

Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: Up-- to no good? Are you the Halloween prankster sort of person? ...or do you just avoid that kind of thing? No, I'm not a prankster.

Twosome: too-- many toppings! ...or not? What goes on top of your ice cream or frozen treat? I mean, chocolate may be a given for some people, but... Sprinkles!

Threesome: Late-- sunrises are here with the changing seasons (except for those Down Under <g> ); are you finding it harder to get up and get moving in the morning? No, not really, because I get up after sunrise. It's after 9 AM when I get up.

Life's Funny.

Our house phone isn't working right. *Frown* We're got a line in from the junction box to get calls at the moment. Always something. *Angry* So, we had to go to the car shop today and found out my car needs about $500.00 of work. One of the belts neat the power steering slipped and my power steering went out. My dad called tonight and said he got enough money in his paycheck this week to cover the repair.

After going to the shop, we got my dad a new car battery and got my phone switched over to my dad's account. Going to the phone store was, shall I say, pleasant. It wasn't my dad that irritated me; it was my sister.

In the mail today, I got the acceptance letter for joining Omicron Delta Kappa. *Smile* I knew I could get in. After I pay my membership fee, that will be the second Greek honor society I have joined. Earlier this week, for the hell of it, I applied for the Who's Who Among Students. I never was nominated in high school. *Frown* So, why not go for it now in college? I'm making up for those lost awards and honors I never got, but should have, in high school.

I'm Not A Yankees Fan…

But I am really shakened by the news of Cory Lidle's plane crash. I don't know why. Maybe because it's someone I've seen on TV quite a bit, being a fan or baseball. I just saw him on TV last week pitching in the bullpen during the Yankees/Tigers series. Maybe it's the fact he was only 34. I know I'm not myself at the moment.

I'm in the process of uploading more pictures from this week to my Flickr account.

School was fine today. The Creative Coast were today's presenters at the ACM meeting. I did some work, including updating a professor's computer while he was in a department meeting. He just wanted me to sit at the screen while the Windows updates were installing. My Film professor asked me had I read a vampire story, later for her to tell me she thought I was in her English 2100 class instead of her Film class. I did take her for 2100 back in Spring 2005. She also gave us the breakdown of the essay grades in class. There were 5 Cs, 13 Bs, and 3 As. Yes, only 3 people got As, and I was one of them. *Smile* My paper must have really been a great one, considering I'm not an English major and most of the students in that class are English majors.

Fall Break is now officially on for me. *Smile* About time.

We Don't Need no Steeenking Titles.

I wish I had my iPod at the moment. It would have done me some good this afternoon as I was eating my lunch in the IT lounge.

My car is not working right at the moment. I don't know what it could be. My dad thinks it's a loose belt. It's making this horrible noise, so Beth had to drive me to school today. I ended up getting lunch at the cafeteria today and bringing it into the IT lounge.

Thankfully, Fall Break is this week, so I may have to borrow Beth's car only for tomorrow. *Smile* I only have Film Class tomorrow.

Life is good, even without my car. Now, if I can just grasp section 3.10 in Calculus. *Laughing* I'll get enough of it to get me by on next week's quiz and the tests I have to take on that section.

Cookout And A Movie

Wesley Cookout
Uploaded by peachy92.

Today, my day was not stressful. *Smile* And it felt like a fall day in Savannah!

The Wesley Foundation had a cookout today. People I've never seen before showed up for the free hamburgers and hot dogs. I took a few photos of it. I also took plenty of campus flower pictures this afternoon, but they are still on my camera. I'll uploaded them Wednesday, after the ACM meeting. I will upload some pictures I never got around to uploading from the last ACM meeting. Even after the cookout, I stayed around the area talking to a few other students about faith and last week's street preacher.

I spent 3 hours working after the cookout finally ended for me. It wasn't much, but it felt good to get to get working again. I mainly did updating and working on a new PowerPoint presentation: Advanced Google Features. *Laughing* Sounds fun, doesn't it? I work on it some more on Wednesday.

In Film today, we got our papers back and watched Rear Window. Good movie. As for my paper, I got an A. I never got an A in my professor's English 2201class. She only had one problem with my paper. Other than that, she said it was good and I did a lot of analysis on all the movies, directors, genres, and techniques in 10 pages. I am glad to have gotten an A. All I did was answer the questions asked of the paper. *Laughing*

And how about the baseball playoffs. Way to go Detroit Tigers . I'm rooting for the AL this year, be it either the Tigers or the Oakland A's. *Smile*

Stupid Dream.

I didn't get up until 2 this afternoon. I've been lazy all weekend. It's done me some good. However, not in the dream department last night. I dreamt I had a teddy bear shaped phone that could communicate with my mother. It was nice having a phone to communicate with the other side. However, my connection with my mother died. I couldn't get her back on the phone. I ruined my mood in my dreams and it ruined my mood as soon as I knew it was a dream.

Today, my brother made stuffed cabbage. It's on the stove at the moment. He hasn't have any since before my mother died. Her last pot was one she christened with worst pot ever. It smells good. I don't know how it will turned out for him. At least he tried. Glad to see someone still wants to make it, even if it's not me.
