What Should I Say?

Me
Uploaded by peachy92.

I could such a supermodel! NOT! It's not the best picture of me, but it's not the worst, either. *Smile* This photo was taken this afternoon.

Yesterday was an interesting day. Last week, I told some JAVA 1 students about the CSEMS scholarship. This week, the IT student of the group thanked me for telling them about it and asked me questions about how to apply and what I must do. I answered his questions and we just talked a bit more about our major. He told me a few things that shocked me and left me disappointed, feelings I can't help. After class, I attended the weekly ACM-TDC meeting. We need to get to work ASAP on the site.

Last night, before I went to bed, I got a MySpace message from an old high school classmate. We ended up on the phone and talk for nearly an hour. I caught up with her today and we got free make up jobs at the Lancôme counter. I spent a pretty penny at that counter, but it was worth it. I have a foundation that looks good on me. Plus, I got a few freebees. Must return in a few weeks for an eye cream. *Laughing*

Tonight, the family, sans Nicki, celebrated Matthew's birthday (he's 21 today) by going to B & D Burgers. The thought of corn nuggets made Matthew happy. *Smile* Service may not have been all that hot, but the family had a good time.

And finally, thankfully, I can say I'm out of debt! I had once last credit card charge off from my bankruptcy days. It was for $2,200.00. they collection company that bought the debt was willing to settle for $916.00. I took that offer. Now, my only debts are student loans used to pay my bankruptcy debts. I'm glad I don't need student loans anymore. I celebrated the pay off by buying some Victoria's Secret shirts. I lost the ones my mother got me last year. *Frown*

In A Nutshell: However, my main thing today was just talking with others. There's a new guy hanging out in the IT lounge at the same time I'm with the Data Com people. He asked me to read him the latest on Charles The Technician. It provides us IT students much laughs. He then asked why "Fire and Rain" upset me the last time he saw me. I explained I listened to him growing up. My mother enjoyed him. And with her dying unexpectedly, the line "I always thought that I would see you again" just hit me hard that day.

About half an hour later, I was with Renee and Bobby. We were talking and the issue of my medication came up. I told them I was on Prozac. They asked me why and I explained that I'm bi-polar and have OCD. I'm not ashamed of it. It's just a part of life. I answered their questions about it. How do they effect me? What obessions do I have? I explained it all. I don't mind talking about it when people ask. I like to show that people can have these problems and still be a great person. They said they never would have guess I suffered from these problems. To them, I guess I'm just another person. But I do have these problems. I'm trying to live with them as a part of me, not as me. I'm more than just the depressed person I can be. I like to play on the computer, I have a sick sense of humor, I love Richard Marx music, I'm not afraid to travel. I have more faces than the depression.

In a nutshell, I am living life to the fullest at the moment.

The Thursday Threesome: Ice Cream Social

Thursday Threesome:

Onesome: Ice-- skating? Yes? No? Rinks? Ponds? No way? No! Not good at it at all. I was 13 when I did all my ice skating. I couldn't balance on the skates. My ankles hurt. I well on my butt and need kids soliders to escort me off the rink. yeah, I was 13 and didn't realize that I had a good thing going on with guys. At least I know I'm not alone in the can't ice skate department. Someone once told me he skated into a Christmas tree one year. *Laughing* I never made that blunder. *Laughing*

Twosome: Cream-- soda? The work of evil scientists or a true pleasure in life <g>? A pleasure in life. I've never had cream soda, but I don't deny people that enjoy it to drink it.

Threesome: Social-- Are you considered to be a social person? ...or are you more likely to not be comfortable with a bunch of people around you? ...and wait a moment: how about in a classroom situation? Is that different for you? Some people think I'm social. I don't know if I am. I think it has to take me get used to the people around me before I let my guard down. Plus, it all depends on the vibe I get around them. Some people give off a vibe that doesn't mesh with me. Now, I know I've been wrong about people before, but that's just how I am.

Oh, I just saw the new HeadOn commercial. The company now admits people HATE the ads. *Laughing* At least they have some humor about the commercial hate.

Hump Day.

So tonight, I watched Stagecoach in Film class. It was great! I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Growing up, John Wayne flicks bored me. They were films for my father. Now, it was different. It was a predictable movie, but I think that's because many of the plot elements have been done to death in other movies. Still, considering it was developed in 1939, it wasn't bad. It was the first "talkie" we saw in class. And, John Wayne wasn't that bad looking at age 32. After class, I stopped at Best Buy can picked up a John Wayne box set with Stagecoach in it. I gave it to my dad. He sounded as if he wanted to watch it as well.

Best Buy didn't have the DVD set I wanted. I was going to get the The Cary Grant Box Set with Holiday on it. *Frown* I just ordered it on Amazon. As I was looking for it, one of Nicki's ex-co-workers from Media Play was calling me a loser for wanting it. He started talking about the things he watched. I did the loser sign to him. Nicki's not too fond of him, but he's not that bad of a guy, or at least to me. He's never been mean to me. He really likes Nicki. I did pick up one other thing at Best Buy - an external hard drive. It's 160 GB. I copied all my music and important files to it. I figured I'll let my sibs backup their stuff to it was well. It cost a pretty penny, but it should be worth it. I feel better backing up my music.

Tonight's dinner was pizza. When the guy came to the door, some of our animals got out. I think it took 45 minutes to round them all up. I got PupPup. Graysie walked into the house on her own. Scooter would have done the same as his sister, but PupPup was at the door, scaring him. C.C. took the longest. We looked all over our bushes but couldn't find him. He was across the street in the park when we finally saw him. Both my father and I saw him at the same time. My dad said he admired my perseverance in trying to get C.C. back into the house.

I'm persevering in life as well. I'm chugging away at school. I have 4 pages complete for my 7 page paper. I typed what I wrote last week, plus added an additional paragraph. I should have a good discussion about Stagecoach when I get to that point in the paper. I'm not going to fret and write this paper at the last moment. I'll work on it slowly and try to write it as well as I can.

Free Time!

Oh my! What's that!

I actually have some free time at the moment. I can't do any more IR related work. I need the guys on the project to get there stuff in before I can work with it. I did my Calculus homework. Unix/PHP class is over and Film doesn't meet until 6. What's a girl to do?

I'll tell you what. I'm blogging and then I'm going out to my car and get the goods need to work on my 7 page filem paper that's due in just under 2 weeks. I want to get that done.

I finished up my Calculus homework during today's colloquium. I'm pretty certain that the derivative at 4πrČ is 8πr. I did the work 2 different ways. However, the problem using that equation is giving me different answers than what I got. I guess I'll have to go over it in class tomorrow.

I got back my first UNIX assignment. I got a 49 out of 50. Now, let's see what I make on the other one. Seems I'm not as stupid as I thought I was. *Laughing*

Tonight's film class will be a presentation of Stagecoach. As I told my father that's what I'm doing tonight, he thought it was cool to watch a John Wayne film for a class. It sounds easy, but I have to probably write about it later at some point. *Sigh*

Someone Said I Was A Little Too Happy Today.

*Laughing* This happened as I was going down the stairs today singing "I'm Gonna Find Another You." There's a line about dressing up. I had sort of dressed up today. I wore this cute shirt I bought the other day at Old Navy. Not only was it a cute shirt, it was a comfortable shirt. That line was just resonating in my mind.

I did have a good day today. The first thing I did was vote on a local sales tax referendum. 2 taxes were to be decided on. One deals with education. The other deals with county improvements. I vote for one and against the other. My polling place is my high school. Just before I walked in, an old couple walked in. They annoyed me. They had nothing ready for the pollsters. You're required to present a photo ID and to put your date of birth on the sign-in form. The wife didn't have her ID and fussed about having to present it. She didn't want to pull it out. Her husband didn't put his DOB on the form. He was able to vote before she and I did. They only had 2 booths today. My fear was having to wait and run late for school because I had to wait for the couple. Thankfully, the husband was quick to vote. He assisted his wife, who couldn't or didn't want to read voting card's instructions. They used the same booth, leaving the other booth for me.

It's not that I don't have patience for old people. I had my ill grandmother live with us for years. I just don't have patience for people that don't follow instructions as simple as those required to vote.

School itself was fine. My IR class met in the lab today. We have to get the website up by the end of this month. I spent 2 hours after Calc class working on the project. I had to finish my conversations and start working on the webpages. So far, I've made $28.00 this week. I could have worked 3 hours, but I needed time to work on my Calc homework.

Calculus is going better the second time around. *Smile* I did get a 10 on last week's quiz. I'm understanding the information now. I don't feel as clueless. I'm doing the homework, which is really helping a lot. My goal is to make at least a B in that class. So far, I'm doing it. I only got one of the homework assignments done today. I'll finish the other one and correct myself past assignments tomorrow. When I'm not working, of course. *Laughing*

I also had a crazy thing happen today. Mike returned my Strangers book! *EEK!* I lent it to him to read about a year and a half ago. He gave it to me as I peaked into the IT lounge to see if Renee was in there. I had given up on getting that book back. I figured he lost it, never to be seen again. I would have to buy myself another copy. I've been looking into getting another copy, but just not willing to pay the prices on Amazon.com. It an unexpected surprise to get my book back. Now I can read it again, when I get the chance. I live a busy life. It was my favorite book from ENGL 2201.

Client/Server class was fine. We worked with VB.net and a SQL database. I didn't get the assignment complete. I got most of it done. I can work on it tomorrow after I get home from school.

Tomorrow, I have the choice between Honors meeting or Math/CS colloquium. I think I'm going to the colloquium. That's another point for my scholarship. My CSEMS scholarship comes first. I have half the points for it this semester.

Monday Monday Monday.

Another entry in As The Shawn Schools. *Laughing* UNIX class started the PHP portion today. Actually, we started the snoozefest that is HTML. We have to know HTML for the PHP part. I have to think of a project for my class. I have no clue what I should develop. Maybe a simple link repository to replace the one I have? That one hasn't be updated in years. The professor made a point that he's sick of grading forums.

I spent 2 hours working today. I have to convert my powerpoints I made into .doc and .pdf files. There is no easy way to do that and keep the formatting. I'm working on it. I got 2 presentations done today, but I think I mady have to go back and add some flair to them. They are so plain. *Yuck!* Making the .pdf will be easy. I love the printing drives that do the work and are free. *Smile* Once the .doc is finished, click! and the .pdf file is complete. The site needs to be launched on the 28th. Now, if the guys on the project would get off their butts, I can have it ready for that day.

Film class was interesting. We discussed last week's features, Nanook of the North and Sherlock, Jr.. After the discussion, we watched the what the film Un chien andalou. It was developed in part by Salvador Dalí in 1929. It was nuts. I was turned off by the eyeball slitting scene. As it was going on and after it ending, all I could think was "What the ?"

So I Went To Tybee Island Again.

May
Uploaded by peachy92.

I went to Tybee Island again for some for some Wesley Foundation business. Melissa was interviewing May, the lady pictured. May's 78-year-old. She makes hot dog lunches once a month for the Wesley Foundation. Melissa's submitting an interview with May to one of the Methodist publications. Melissa need a few students to be there for the interview, to ask additional questions, and get May's picture with students, too. Only 3 of us made it out there. It was a nice way to spend my Sunday afternoon.

Prior to the trip to Tybee, I had to go to the mall. Nicki took my car this morning. *Frown* I needed my car. My wallet was left in it. So, I switched out vehicles with her. While I was there, I picked up a few shirts at Old Navy. I'm a little peeved at Nicki. If Beth and I allow her to take our car for one thing, she thinks it's automatic permission for the next day, too. It's annoying when you're expecting to use your car and it's not there. *Banging My Head Against The Wall*

And while I was out on Tybee, I stopped and took pictures of the Tybee Turtle Art. There are decorated pained turtle sculpture all over the island. You can find photos in my Tybee Flickr Set. *Smile* They are cool things.

Nothing else in the personal life. Just more photos. In addition to the turtle photos, I have a few more random shots up on Flickr.
