I finally have my phone line and DSL installed here at my apartment. I don't have a router, but I can get one soon. I'm just happy to be in my own place with my own Internet connection. I can stay in with my cats and stay up as late as I want. The coffeehouse with the Internet here at my complex closes at 10 PM. And I can't get really comfortable at the coffeehouse, either. Now, I can be as comfortable as I want. Now, to get the satellite installed. I've been having trouble with the company that is to install that service. Seems the person that lived in this apartment before me never notified DirecTV that had moved. When I called to arrange my service, they couldn't schedule an installation until they heard from my complex. Communications broke down between the two. As a result, I will have been in this apartment for almost 2 weeks without TV. I have been living off over-the-air TV. And then it didn't help 2 days after I moved here, my big TV from home quit working. I had to get another TV. The big one is waiting until I can afford to fix it.
Today's picture was taken to show how hazy and crappy the air was this morning and gave a perspective of the Atlanta skyline. There was a threat of rain for the day, but I didn't see it. Also, today was going to be an orange day. For those not in this area nor understand smog, an orange day is a day where the pollution in the air is such that it can be deemed harmful to people with sensitive respiratory systems. Nicki and Mary Ellen, people I know with sensitive respiratory systems, would be advised to stay indoors. Earlier this week, Atlanta had red days, which meant everyone was advised to stay inside. I understand that purple days are the worst. I saw this sky this morning and took the picture for my family to see it.
As for work again, it's been fun having Sean, my ex-classmate and now fellow co-worker, at the company. We may be in different offices, but we're training together via phone conferences and the 'Net. He messaged me today calling me a nerd and an overachiever. After knowing him for 4 years, I know he's just teasing me. However, when we each had trouble today, the other one came to help. Everyone that has found out we attended college together thinks it's cool we each have a pal at in the company. And again, it got confusing during the phone conferences when someone said "Shawn" and they didn't specify which one they wanted. They couldn't even use Atlanta as the qualifier,
Yet, just knowing he's in the company makes things easier for me. I am not truly alone in my new quest in a post-college career.
Tuesday night, Beth and Christina came up here to visit me for a few hours. I told Beth next time she comes, it needs to be for a few days. With gas prices these days, a day trip from Savannah to here costs too much. But, it was good for me, Scooter, and Graysie. The girls got their own account set up at the complex coffeehouse. We went out for dinner together. Beth has decided when she comes to visit me, she wants to eat at places that can't be found in Savannah Our first place with this agreement was Shane's Rib Shack. Beth loves ribs. The girls enjoyed it. I wonder what place we'll eat at next time. Beth also said she think she's liking Atlanta and jokes with Ben about them moving up here. However, hearing there was no Sticky Fingers here was depressing.
