He's Graduating...
May 3, 2008

Tomorrow morning, Joey's graduating college. I've got him a gift and card. I can't believe this day is here.

Yesterday, after my last entry, I found Joey. He was on campus watching some video with some of the other guys. I didn't get to help him study, but I confirmed he still needed a ride after his test. After the test, a majority of the Graphics Design class entered the IT lounge. After they all remarked about how horrible the exam was, half of them decided to go to a nearby bar and just have a few drinks. I went along with them. It was a blast. They guys played pool. Some of us played darts. And we talked. I spoke to the other It chicks, Ashley and Shannon. I didn't know either one of them very well. Ashley told me when she sees I'm online, she wants to message me, but she's afraid that she'll disturb me. I told her she's always welcomed to message me.

It was my conversation with Shannon that really did me some good. We had spoke before in the past, and had been in a few classes together, but never really got to know each other. Usually, she had to drop the class I was in and take it another time. She told me they all wished had attended the banquet. I explained to her why I didn't attend. It was a pride thing. I admit that. However, she said nearly everyone wanted to know where I was and that her table felt I was robbed of the Outstanding IT Student award. As far as her table was concerned, that award belonged to me, and they were all shocked I didn't get it. I deserved it more than the guy that won, in their eyes. That remark alone is worth more than the award.

She also told me she wished she could be like me. She always saw me as the type of geek gal she wanted to be. As far as she could see, I had all the classmates respect. The guys treated me as one of their own. Everyone was friends with me. I had all the professors' respect. I was outgoing and always involved. I was the perfect geek gal. I told her the truth. I'm very shy. It took an effort to be involved in events. I also told her I never had a boyfriend my entire time at Armstrong. I clarified that I am not dating Joey. We are just friends. I was also just friends with MAS. She was in my Operating Systems class 3 years ago when I took it with MAS and thought that we were dating since MAS and I were very close that semester. I told her I don't understand why it looks like I'm dating these guys when I'm not, but that I'm not. I don't have the best of luck with guys. So, while I look like the coolest chick around, I have my own issues, too. Lord knows Joey knows that.

Now, she did get me to do something I haven't done in my time around Joey. I got up last night at the bar and sang "Any Man of Mine." I guess since I wasn't doing it alone, I had the nerve to do it. *Laughing* Joey told me today he was proud I did that. I think he was proud of how much fun I had last night. I told him I was only outgoing because I was with friends. It's strangers that scare me.

This morning, Joey had his practice. I took him to that. I got a few shots of all the IT people having to sit through that. After the practice, Joey's uncle called us about meeting for lunch. Just after Bob's call, Lindsey called. Joey told her to join us for lunch. It was a nice lunch. The guys talked about their things and Lindsey and I had gal chit chat. When lunch finished, Joey, Bob, and I went to see Iron Man. I think he wanted me to go. He's been telling me the past 2 weeks that they were going to see and I was welcomed to come along if I wanted. It was a great film. It kept me interested. When we got back to his place, he pulled out his Ultimate Avengers DVDs. First, we did the what superhero quiz on it. We each did the quiz twice. One time we each chose our answers. The other time, we chose the answers for the other. Both times, I got the Wasp. Joey got the Hulk and Hercules. Then, we watched the movies.

Joey's folks got into town just in time for dinner. I stayed to dine and spend some time with them before getting home. Once I got home, I talked with my father about Iron Man. He went to a later showing with Matthew, Nicki, and Cameron. We both enjoyed the film and just compared notes on it. My father was also shocked to know I went to a movie since I usually don't go. The last movie I saw prior to today was The Simpsons Movie.

Well, I need to get some sleep. I have to get up bright an' early to go get Joey and get a good seat at the Civic Center.
