I haven't been this ill since November 2006. I have the flu. I still have it, but it's now in the end stage of illness. I caught it from Joey, but it wasn't his fault. He caught it Monday afternoon at school. I was at his house Monday evening spending time with his mother. He was busy with his cousin Andy and his uncle. We didn't really socialize that night, but we must have socialized enough for me to catch the flu. By the time I came home that night, I had to crawl under 2 blankets to feel warm enough to sleep. That when I knew I was sick, too.
I spent most of the week in bed. I just told Nicki to use my car for the week. I stayed home and slept. Well, Tuesday and Thursday, I was awake parts of the day to use my laptop and to watch TV. Not Wednesday. I slept that most of that day away. I had to. It was my body's way of trying to fight off the infection. But it wasn't like I was comfortable. I kept waking up because I was either too hot or too cold. And when I got hot, I was hot. I know yesterday, when I awoke, my body was drenched with sweat. There was no in-between with my body temperature. In addition to all the sleeping and fever conditions, this flu also came with chest congestion. That made check-up calls between Joey and myself real interesting. We kept seeing how the other was doing with the flu. This is the first time since I was in 1st grade that I shared an illness with a friend.
Yesterday, I was still sick, but I finally got out of the house to take my sister to work. I was going to have lunch with Joey, but he looked at me and decided we were just going back to his place. He could see I was still ill. So, we went back to his place and each took a couch as our own. We just crawled under a blanket, laid down, and watched Dogma. The laughter and comradere of being with a sick friend did me some good. I felt better, somewhat, after I left Joey's place later that night.
