This very special episode of Saved by the Bell was on TBS this morning. This particular scene is a classic. Elizabeth Berkley's acting just nails it.
Actually, it's horrible! This episode was to warn about the dangers of drugs to kids and teens in a format they would understand. Instead, to this day like to remark that this scene is the best work performed by Elizabeth Berkley. We're not alone in this, but my sister and I like to reenact this scene and laugh. The purpose of the episode backfired. When I saw it was this episode on TBS this morning, I stopped and watched it just so I could laugh at this scene.
Joey came home from Spring Break yesterday, so I had dinner with his family. I needed to see both him and his mother. Saturday, I found a movie at Target for a sweet deal. I had the movie on DVD, but Joey wanted his own copy and has been looking for it for the past month. So, I called him and told him I found it and asked did he want me to get a copy. He told me to jump on the chance and he'd pay me back. His mother called me right after I hung up with him and asked that if they had a second copy of the movie, if I would get her a copy, too.
I couldn't say no to her, so I ended up buying 2 copies of the movie. They were both pleased to get that movie on DVD. I mainly went over to drop off the DVDs.
We ended up going to dinner at Jalapeno's: Joey, his mother, and his uncle. They squeezed us into a tiny booth. None of us had much elbow room. But, dinner was nice and we all had a good time. I enjoyed talking to Joey's mother. I've been around her enough these 2 past months to feel like I know her. She's taken an interest in my family genealogy. Last night, she just listened to me as I showed her the website I made for my mother's doll collection. Also last night, she made a joke at the expensive of me being a distant cousin to both the Clintons.
It was a great joke and a quick reply to something her son said. I didn't mind the joke. I thought it was a brilliant answer. We also got in a discussion about waitresses and waiters having a sense of humor. I told Joey's mother about my graduation dinner. At that dinner, our waiter had to put up with the hijinx of both Joey and my father. One of them would make a joke to the waiter and the other one would build on top of it, without missing a beat. I can't help but think if both of them were there for the lemon water incident, what chaos would have occurred! Joey told his mother she would like my father. Though Joey's only met my father twice, based on things I've told Joey about my father, Joey thinks he's a brilliant man.
