Hanging out with Joey lately has seen me increase the amount of country music I've been listening to. Blame him.
However, I have been enjoying it. I was never a country fan as a child, but listening to it brings back memories of my childhood. For some reason, hills and mountains feel my mind as part of these memories.
Most of my life has been spent in Georgia, but having family in Nashville, TN, I spent quite a bit of time traveling to Nashville. And county music, whether I liked it or not, played in the background. I miss being younger. Back then, I had no cares. My only job was to be a happy kid.
The change of seasons and time has been getting to me, too. I wish I could be on the road, preferably at night, traveling up to Nashville. As a child, my parents would drive to Nashville, starting in the afternoon/late evening, from Augusta. There's something sweet to me remembering stopping at a hotel in North Georgia at 10 PM before continuing to Nashville the next day. The weather on these trips were perfect, too. Just like it has been in Savannah lately.
