Ever Re-Read Something You Wrote…
July 24, 2007

Several days, weeks, or even years later and have a good chuckle about it, especially when you find more information related to your writing after the fact? I had that happen tonight and had a good laugh. Whether it's true or not, just the thought of the writing and the information together gave me a good chuckle. I needed laugh. *Laughing*

I got much more work done on my Senior Project today. I had business this afternoon at school, so I spent most of the day out there. It may not look like I did much work on my Senior Project, but once I get these idea down and working in PHP, I can code the real stuff. I was a dolt at one point and coding an if statement that printed an open wrong. I had the word SELECTED on the wrong side of a quotation mark. It made a difference. On the wrong side, my code didn't work. On the proper side, my code did work. Live and learn. *Smile* I got a bit more work done on my project at home. Tomorrow, I'll work on it a bit more. I don't have to be on campus tomorrow, but I'm more likely to do work on my project while out there, even if it's only 2 hours work.

I assisted in the Writing Center today. No, I didn't tutor anyone. I probably could in a pinch, even after the 2 years I've been gone. I stopped in this morning to print something. The ex-boss asked if I could help with with a password change. At the moment, I couldn't do it, but I knew she'd have to do the password change with a web form. Later in the day, I stopped to talk to Joey, and I stopped to talk to her as well. She asked that I get together with Joey, since we're both IT majors, and try the password thing again. Joey and I helped her get it done. He understood what I was trying to do this morning, and we got the information and helped the boss get it done. *Smile* Earlier, I was trying to help Joey with his Senior Project, by letting him know what to expect to do his first semester. I found the Writing Center site had some outdated links. *Laughing* I'm going to guess that's going to be Joey's job this fall to fix. He remarked he's going to get me to help, since I'm still on campus and have a clue of what's going on with that site. After all, I did finalize the HTML on the OWL submission page for the site.

I also told Joey and the boss that I found some files from when I worked there. They are the handouts that are all cute and pretty and are basically my current mark still left on the Writing Center. I'm going to take them in and hand them over. I have no reason to really have them. Besides, they might be needed. The ex-boss wants to add more handouts to the website. They would be a start and a good template for additions. Besides, I'd like to delete them, but I wouldn't feel right unless I hand them over. While I was in the Writing Center, I found out the next Writing Center conference, like the one I attended, will be held in Savannah. I just told the ex-boss to make sure that the riverboat dinner really is a riverboat dinner.

The only thing that peeved me off today is the incompetence of the Technology Development Committee head from 2 years ago for our ACM chapter. Last year, Aric, the head I replaced, had none of the files and information from the previous year. I was not happy about that. I don't think Aric was too happy with that. Now that I've taken Aric's place, I've inherited his problems and new problems. We're going to us the hosting we used 2 years ago. However, we don't have a password to the host! Our faculty advisor does not have the password. Aric's predecessor never gave the advisor the changed password. I know as sure as hell Aric doesn't have it. That was a big deal for us. I don't understand what's so hard in making sure the faculty advisor has the password. But, it's typical of this guy, and yet he's a gem in the department's eye. *Yuck!* Thank goodness he graduated!
