My junior and senior proms did not see me attend them. I was a nerd. I wouldn't have been able to find a date. My parents didn't have the money for me to get a dress. So, I didn't go to them. I don't think I missed anything for not attended.
However, it's been 10 years since high school. I'm different. I'm still a nerd, but I don't have the horrible glasses I had then. I wear contacts. I will wear makeup. And on the 19th, I'm going to get all dressed up and attend 2 events at school. One is the ODK ceremony. That's around 5 PM that night. At 7 that night, in the same location, the School of Computing will have a banquet. I'm going to both. I'm probably going to go alone. That won't bother me. I'm used to going solo. But by God, I am going to look nice. These are business related events. I need to look nice and make some contacts.
I made a hair appointment to get a trim and styling done for the event that day. I also went out and picked up some blush. I spoke to my friend, Heather, last night. She's going to at least one of the events, as well. We're going out to find me a nice bra that will give me boobs. I'll have to get her to help me get some shoes for these events, as well. She helped me get ready last year, too. A lot has happened to me in the past year. In a way, I want to celebrate the good.
I attended some business at school today. I spent 3 hours working on the IIR project I'm a member of. I haven't done anything this semester, mainly because I didn't have the time. Sharing 4 vehicles with 5 people left me as the odd one out. Now that I can go when I want to go, I can work again. I spent my time working on the display we'll be presenting at this year's TechFest, hosted by the Creative Coast. I signed up for it today. I don't know who else from the project will go with me, but I am going. That's the 27th.
I also stopped by the Career Services Center at school. I got some résumé information and other information needed for the job seeker. Figured it wouldn't hurt me to get that information. I am scared of the future, but I'm bracing for it.
