I am back from my weekend at St. Simons Island for the 2007 Georgia Wesley Student Movement Retreat. This photo is one I took yesterday evening as the sun was setting. The retreat took place at Epworth By The Sea this year. Epworth is just off the Frederica River.
I went back down there Friday morning and met up Michelle. I met Michelle when we went to Adrian, MI last year. We also plan on going to Tacoma together in May. She wanted to come down and look around St. Simons before the retreat. That we did. We went out to Christ Church for pictures and drove around town looking for the Tree Spirits. After that, we headed to Epworth and helped set up the retreat.
After my Wesley Foundation got to the island, we all met up at a local restaurant on the south end of the island. The food was good, but the service was not that great. The waiter seemed to have gotten my table. The rest of the group finished their meals by the time we got to eat ours. The waiter was lucky I left a dollar. The other table of our group then waited forever for the waiter to get their checks.
Saturday was busy. We had some great group discussions and everyone as a group discussing the theme for the retreat, Romans 12:2, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." We called the theme Extreme Makeover.
Saturday's free time was busy as well. The AASU Foundation, along with Terry from SSU, did a ropes course. That was a blast. We had to work as a team to get tasks done. One task was to simulate getting across a canyon with a cup of nitroglycerin. We didn't take long to think of a plan and get it done. We had to try twice, as I fell into the canyon and died the first time. The other big task we did was get us all across a wire a foot and a half off the ground. Only one person could move at a time, and if we fell, we had to start at the beginning. We took 2 tries on that one. I didn't not fall on that one.
I ended up being the photographer for the whole event. I took over 1000 photos for the weekend. I got those photos up on Flickr. I've got pictures of retreat activities, touring St. Simons with Michelle, and the ropes course. This weekend was a blast and exhausting. That's good. My next 2 days will be spent on school work, meaning no blogging time for me. That's just as well. I need my good grades.

Don't you just love school work? I have been spending all weekend on mine. Now I finally get a break for a day!
