BlogSavannah Un-conference

I spent all day downtown at the first Blogsavannah Un-conference 2007. It was held at Bryson Hall on Chippewa Square. It was sponsored by SavannahNow and The Creative Coast. About 80 bloggers from the Southeast were there. Even WTOC came and did an article on "Bloggers Gather in Savannah for Conference." Thankfully, I was not interviewed for the article. However, I am in one of the pictures in WTOC's article. The video is up, as well. Thankfully, I'm not in it, either. Most of the video footage was shot in the morning.

My one problem about the conference was that is was a little too corporate and business-like for my liking. I don't know if was meant to turn out that way, but it did. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. I did. It was interesting being one of the few people in the room that blogged for pleasure. We had an interesting discussion in the "Women and Blogging" talk, hosted by Gennie at Dizzy Girl. I spoke a bit in that talk, since I'm a younger woman blogger. I mentioned that over the 6½ years I have been doing this, I have evolved as a blogger, and in a sense, a person. I also mentioned that if one person feels better and not alone from reading something on my site, than it's doing its job. Over the years, I have gotten quite a few e-mails over random entries and my writings.

I seemed to be the only college student there. Not even my IT professor that was going to come came to the event. I guess I had a different prospective than everyone else. As I was leaving, one of the ladies at the event asked me what I planned on doing once I'm out of college. I'm really not sure. I can cross web development off, since there are plenty of web developers in town. I like to think my IT degree will show I'm a well rounded person, skills wise. Even if I don't get an IT job, I hope I'm able to get a well paying job in town.

I also got some free stuff. Plenty of stickers, the latest copy of The South magazine, couple of rubber bracelet, some Flickr buttons, and a t-shirt. In addition to this, I saw my old friend, Miriam. After all these years, I'm still that history girl. She came over to the event during her lunch break.

I also took plenty of photos of the event. I've got them uploaded on Flickr and PIXels. Some of the pictures are from last night at the get-together at Venus De Milo. When Nicki heard that, she laughed at the thought this straight-laced sister of hers went to that bar. Afterwards, I went with Andrew Odom, the organizer, his wife Brit, some of their friends, and Josh Hallett of Hyku.com. The dinner was very different. Shame my sister when to Boston yesterday. I think she would have had some fun being there. I ended up meeting one of her co-workers and his roommates, since they were friends of the Odoms. I think she would have found one of the roommates to be a trip.

In other news, I finally got the check for the totaling of my IJAC. That means my carlessness will end soon. Once the check is processed by my bank, I'll have access to the funds. Then I have to pay off my sister's car, transfer it to my name, and repair it. It felt so good to get that check in the mail yesterday. Of course, I rather still have IJAC. That car meant a lot to me. My mother and I shopped for that car together.

As for this weekend, I'm going to stay home. I need my rest, after all the stress from this past week.
