Rev. Marty McLeod

Today was my first day back in school, since the break. I only had on class today. It was my computer ethics class. It's going to require some writing and plenty of reading. And group projects. *Yuck!* I'll worry about them when we get to them. There are 2 guys in the class I won't mind working with, since one is a hard worker, like I am, and the other is an older student working on his Masters in computer science .Senior Project won't meet Wednesday. Half the class showed up for it today, only for me to tell them we won't meet until Wednesday.

I went to school early enough to go the the Wesley lunch. Today's speaker was this gentleman, the Rev. Marty McLeod from Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. This picture is of him from last year's state Wesley Retreat in Dahlonega. He spoke about Abraham, prayer, and opening doors. He's a really funny guy when he preaches. He also preached in Dahlonega. The amazing thing about this guy is just seeing him in action. He's blind, but that doesn't define him. He's a singer and a preacher. That is who he is. He's all about being positive. He's a great reminder to keep chugging along in life and nothing should stop you from being a happy, spiritual person. He just started preaching at Port Wentworth back in June.

The Wesley Foundation will be having several events this semester. Next weekend,we're having dinner at Melissa's house, again. They are fun. On the 9th of February, we will be going to the state Wesley Retreat. This year's retreat is in St. Simons Island. We have the most students going this year of the 3 I will/have attended. The first year I went, there were 3 Armstrong students, with a 4th one joining us for the day. Last year, there were 4 of us. We have at least 5 or 6 at the moment. I'm also going to have to start thinking of if I'm going to this year's United Methodist Student Movement Forum in Tacoma, Washington. Melissa asked me today if I wanted to go. I've never been to the Pacific time zone. It would be cool to go.

After my Ethics class, I spoke with Charles, a fellow ACM member, who is in the class as well. He told me the Sweetheart 5K run will be done by the ACM again this year. It just happens to fall on the same weekend I'm going to St. Simons Island. Looks like I won't be doing it. *Frown* He said he may become an ACM officer. I told him that I'm willing to help, except for the Sweetheart 5K. I just asked him to make sure the ACM does stuff this semester. We hardly did anything last semester. It was a disappointment. This semester has to be better.

Tomorrow, I will have Intro to Theater and Graphics Design. For the theater class, I need to memorize a monologue from Oedipus Rex. The professor has already sent us the syllabus for that class via e-mail. I'm not too happy about the having to memorize something the first week!
