I just finished watching Holiday. I had to buy a Cary Grant box set to get the movie on DVD. That's the only way to get it at the moment. I haven't seen it in about 2 years.
The movie's 68-years-old, yet can still apply to today's society. For those that don't know the movie, it's about Johnny Case (Cary Grant) falling for Julia Seton. However, Julia and Johnny have different plans for life. Johnny wants to enjoy it. Julia wants Johnny to be like her father and make money. Julia's brother, Ned, and sister, Linda (Katharine Hepburn) are not the gems of their father's eyes. Ned's a drunk. Linda loves to be different. They get along better with Johnny than Julia does. In the end, Linda wins. She loves Johnny for who he is. Johnny leaves Julia when he realizes she wants to change him. Linda goes after him and they kiss at the end of the movie. Ned doesn't get to break from his father's clutches like Linda does, but he stands up to his father and Julia to make sure at least one Seton child is truly happy.
I love watching movies; I just hate movie theaters.
I spent my day, when not sleeping or watching playoff baseball, working somewhat on my room. It's such a wreck, but it's not just my stuff in that room. Nicki's stuff in there, too. I was able to throw some trash out, put clothes into 3 piles, and place some of Nicki's stuff into boxes. My plan is to take a dresser from Nicki's area, which used to be Matthew's, and place it in my room. I can use the additional space and use it as a TV stand. I plan to get a desk for the room, too. ![]()
I also worked on a collage to be printed for the ACM booth for AASU Day. I tried to make it show all sides of the School of Computing. The people in the collage are diverse, save for Asians. I have 2 Asians in the collage. It's not like I didn't try. I don't have any Asians from the ACM shots I took this year. I can't recall seeing any. As for pictures from last year, I've been trying for months to get them, but no such luck. The only ones I have are the ones I took last year for my personal collection. I only got the Asians from some photos I had to get from a Google cache search from our old ACM site.
And the picture is so small because it was a small source picture to begin with! However, I think the collage looks nice. It shows us computer scientists, engineers, and information technologists doing stuff other than computer.
