My mother's friend from Nashville, Alice, visited us briefly today. She and her husband came to Hilton Head this week. Today, they spent in Savannah. Before they started to head home, she came over and visited. She came for some closure with my mother's death. She got lost on the way to our home, so I had to run out to where she was and bring her to our house. Thankfully, our house is right on the way out of town. It was a hard visit, I know. I didn't really know what to say. I hope I did my mother proud by getting Alice a jar of Johnny Harris barbeque sauce. She told us to come see her in Nashville anytime.
After the visit, Nicki came home from work. About 45 minutes later, she gets a call to come get the kitten. Yes, my family has a new cat. They are waiting on Beth before they name him. My dad is holding him at the moment. My father's a softie with kittens.
I wish I knew how to cook. I have no motive to cook in this house. However, I did buy stuff to make a homemade pizza. I figured since Beth wants to be a chef, she can do it. She was watching the Food Network, wishing she knew how to make something Rachel Ray made. Beth loves the Food Network. I wish I had the nerves to attempt to make this Pasta e Fagioli soup. One day, I will know how to cook!

You can learn how to cook--just start with the really easy stuff first and slowly go from there. I also find that even just watching someone else cook and then doing what you see is good practice.

I've seen that BBQ on food network! I know that visit was hard for you, but sometimes we feel a lot better after moments like those. I know after Mammaw's funeral, it was hard to be around her friends - but now, they are an extension of her and I like listening to their old memories. {{{hugs}}}
As for cooking, it's fun - I'll teach you! :-)
What's the new kitty look like?
I'm thinking of adopting a cat when I get back from the beach. I've had cats all my life and it feels odd not having one greet me at the door at the end of the day.

Lynn, when you say beach, do you mean my beach? If you are coming to Savannah, e-mail me to get my number.
