I Feel Bad, But I Had To Do It.

I walked out of the luncheon today. I'm over at the Student Center. The luncheon topic is about African-Americans and slavery. Being a modern Southern gal, I know all about Antebellum African-American history. I took an ethics course about the subject two years ago and got an A in it. I'm probably the only person that can say she's ever been kicked off the Black History Bowl team in 6th grade because she knew too much. (I was kicked off, really, because being on the team meant so much more to another classmate. I had already won the Geography Bee that year. But, I'm digressing.) It's something I know all too well. I came here for something different. Instead, I felt like during that speech. So, I had to leave.

I hope no one thinks badly of me for doing it. Many of these people are from places where slavery did not exist. They are not from the South. They need to understand and know about this information. I just wish we could have been warned about this discussion. There are those of us in the South that know the history and just want to move onto a world without color.

Well, I've got to get going to a Jurisdictional Meeting. Thankfully, the group of people I'm with are from the Southeast.
