My long time readers probably know this, but for those that don't, one of my favorite movies is You've Got Mail. The movie main characters are "Joe Fox" and "Kathleen Kelly." Their relationship starts off as a sweet one. Then, Kathleen finds out exactly who Joe is. So, for a good part of the movie, she avoids him, not knowing she's falling for him online. Yet, everywhere she turns, there he is in her life! It drives her batty to the point that she lets loose on him. Joe, knowing that she's in pain over him driving her out of business, backs off, but then befriends her in real life, not just online. He realized that Kathleen, not his girlfriend Patricia, is the perfect girl for him. In the end, Joe was able to get Kathleen to love him not just on the Internet, but in real life.
Well, I've got my own Joe Fox. I don't think he'll work on trying to win me over. However, we're at the avoidance stage.
With today's action, I bit my lip again. I wanted to confront him over the rolling eyes he so blatantly did this afternoon. Alas, I did not. I'd be just like Kathleen. After she dished out her venom at Joe, she felt bad. I don't want to feel bad and/or bruise my pride. I would just vent to my mother. However, she's no longer here. So, I vented to myself as I drove home from school.
No one noticed what I did to my hair today. No one. Ari and my classmate Vanessa did after I asked them did they notice anything different with my hair. What is it? I bleach it to Children of the Damned blonde, and people notice. I tone it down to a dark blonde/light brown, with cutting some of the scraggly stuff off, and no one notices it?
In other news, Ari heard from Leslie about the retreat. She was in a rush to go to the other side of campus when I saw her, but she wanted to know how it went. I sent her an e-mail containing the pictures from Dahlonega. Instead of of noticing my hair change, Ari suggested I had lost weight. As for the class I missed yesterday, seems those that sit around me heard about the blood pressure spike and understood why I skipped class. I swear, there are no secrets in the IT department. Actually, there are no secrets in this town, because everyone knows everyone! My blood pressure has gone down quite a bit, I will say.
They say exercise is good for the body, including blood pressure, so I walked about 30 minutes today inside the Science Center. I had my iPod with me and turned on a guilty pleasure. Yes, it was New Kids On The Block! I needed some bounce on my step. Listening to them via my 27-year-old ears, and not my 12-year-old ears, some of their songs are cheesy. The afore mentioned "Tonight" from a prior post is one. "Hangin' Tough" is another. However, "You've Got It (The Right Stuff)," Didn't I Blow Your Mind," and "Don't Give Up On Me" on good songs. In fact, I had "Didn't I Blow Your Mind" going on in my head all during Data class, as I stared at the tree on Jenkins Hall.
