I had a good day today. It started with an appointment with my counselor. It's not that I go for new insight. I mainly go for support. He mainly says the things I know are true. I was just telling him about my life and how I'm working on getting it all together. After that appointment, I went next door to the health clinic to check my blood pressure. I love the school nurse. She's known me for 2 years now. She asked me how I was, and I told her the truth. She laughed over my silliness and implied she's got my back.
She's one of the few people are at school that can honestly tell you she's seen how much I've worked to get at the point I am in life.
So what's with the title of "Deliver me of a love?" I was discussing with the counselor that one of the few things I've start to do it listen to a bunch of Céline Dion singing in French in an attempt to learn the language and my desire to one day go to Montréal. The other day, I finally received the album Incognito. "Délivre-Moi" is one of the tracks on the album. I had first heard it 12 years ago on a Céline video I have. With the little bit of French I had back then, I was able to understand that "délivre-moi" meant deliver me. I even brought the tape to French class as a learning experience. It was the first track I had to listen to when I got the CD this week. I've been singing the above mentioned line with the music as I listen to the song. It's such an '80s song.
The counselor encouraged my want to learn the French language. He told me to watch English movies with French subtitles to get a feel of reading and understanding the words. I remarked that I'd like to audit a French class.
I think I've got a new friend in the works. There's an English major that's been hanging out in the IT lounge, since it's peaceful. We've spoke to each other quite a bit and we're very similar. Today, I was helping her go over a poem she had to deconstruct metaphors for. Between her, my friends Heather and Ari, and the ACM guys, I'm working on getting out of my funk.
In other news, today was a spring day. I kid you not. My Forecastfox says it's 76º outside! I heard it was 83º today down in Jacksonville. Good old wacky Georgia weather! It will probably be cold when I go to Dahlonega next weekend. However, part of me is looking forward to the warming weather and the extended nights. I just don't want to worry about the stressful school projects associated with the early spring. ![]()
Yesterday was a nice day, too. I sort of got dressed up by wearing my paisley shirt I haven't worn in a while. It's such a flirty shirt, in my opinion. One IT major didn't even recognize me in the shirt and with the blonde hair! She stopped me on my way to Data class to complement me on how I looked yesterday. I hope I helped a classmate yesterday, too. She was bummed about losing some of her financial aid and wondering how she's going to pay for school. I told her all about the scholarship I'm on and told her to go for it, since it's for students like the 2 of us. I hope she gets it. It's meant for 50 students. There's only 18 people on the scholarship at the moment.
