2004 In Review
December 20, 2004

A repeat of last year's meme about the year we'll be leaving. I wonder how much I changed. There are a few more questions to it this year.

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? I got through a whole semester of college without flunking out. :) I guess I had to grow up to be able to do it.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make them because I can't keep them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Laura had a little girl and Betsy had a little boy.

4. Did anyone close to you die? My Grandpa died.

5. What countries did you visit? None. I'm still awaiting my goal of seeing another country one day.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? Do you really want to know? It sounds dumb and I'm sure some of you know it without me posting it.

7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Nothing specific, really. Nothing big happened to me, yet. Or at least something I think is significant at the moment.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Bringing my GPA up from a 2.50 to a 3.81.

9. What was your biggest failure? I haven't really failed this year except myself. Don't ask me to clarify it.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Thankfully, no.

11. What was the best thing you bought? More RAM for my computer is all I can think about at the moment.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? Matthew graduated high school this year. However, at the time, I was in no mood to celebrate.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? My own. Again, don't ask. I'm sure my archives will explain it all.

14. Where did most of your money go? To live!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Not much except school. 2004 has been an okay year or, at least, from my perspective at the moment.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004? I can't think of one. Nothing on the radio stood out to me this year.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Believe it or not, I can answer both. I am happier in some ways and sadder in other regards.
older and wiser? Yes.
thinner or fatter? Thinner!
richer or poorer? Richer, but not by much.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Being happy.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? Working the Mysterious Santa then spending time with my parents and siblings.

21. Since this is a repeat of last year's meme, #21 is STILL missing!

22. Did you fall in love in 2004? Does ^Gizmo count? Of course I fell in love. Sure, I haven't found the special relationship I've wanted if that's the type of love this question is aiming for but I did find different types of love.

23. How many one-night stands? None! I'm not that way.

24. What was your favorite TV program? Still CSI but I've been watching Cold Case, too.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Not really. It's more of pity than it is hate.

26. What was the best book you read? The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Seeing Train live was great. I need to get the live album they just released. It was recorded in Birmingham, AL, the day before I saw them live.

28. What did you want and get? To be a college sophomore!

29. What did you want and not get? I plead the 5th on this one!

30. What was your favorite film of this year? I only saw a few. Shrek 2 was the best.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 26. Why don't you read about it since it was just on the 7th? :P

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Thinking…um…uh…you know what, I'll just keep some things to myself. It's for the best.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? "The same as it ever was" except I've added a few more daring things into it. Don't worry, I haven't gone all Christina Aguilera in my wardrobe selection.

34. What kept you sane? Friendships. :) Paxil. School, believe it or not.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? :baseball: Again, I plead the 5th. Nah, I'll say Barry Zito but last I read, he's been dating Carl Pavano's ex. I just can't envision Alyssa Milano as his type.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? I try to stay away from political issues because I know if I get on a subject I passionately believed in, it might make me sick and I don't need that.

37. Who did you miss? The usuals. ^Pumpkin, Grandmother, and a few others.

38. Who was the best new person you met? I've met a lot of new people this year. So…hard…to…choose. I'll say Mike only because of what he has done for me. He saved my butt in IT when my Grandpa died. :) Actually, he made me realize that I should try the Honors Program again because I've got the brains to do it. Now, for me to survive Honors English, Honors JAVA programming, Visual Basic programming again, and Operating Systems in one semester. I can't blame him on the Latin America history nor the not toughing out VB the first time. That's my fault.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004: To be the best friend I can be.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: "Is there a God? / Why is He waiting? / Don't you think of it odd / When he knows my address?" - "New Deep" - John Mayer and "I'm just wondering why I feel so all alone / Why I'm a stranger in my own life." - "Everyday Is A Winding Road" - Sheryl Crow
