I know, I know. I try to stay out of politics on this blog. There's enough blogs out there that focus on politics and I believe you can only focus on them enough before making yourself sick. Personally, I don't want to be sick if I can help it.
Well, last night, I was watching either New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox ALCS or the St. Louis Cardinals/Houston Astros NLCS (by this time, it was late and they were bleeding into one another) when a thought it me. On TV, there was an ad by the Democrats against my current Congressman, Max Burns. In the ad, it was mentioning all these things Burns voted against that would hurt seniors, soliders, and retirees. Oh, it's enough to make me mad as a daughter and granddaughter of retirees. Yet, as I was wanting to steam, I realized that while Burns may have voted against certain things that would be beneficial to my family, there must be a good reason.
For example, my father could sure use some benefits. However, the benefits he needed might have been attached to a bill that provided pork to a project, like the infamous Interstate 99. Maybe Burns didn’t vote against my father and other retirees. Maybe Burns votes against the pork. I’m all for eliminating pork projects.
All I’m going to say at this point is vote with your heart. It’s all you can do. And I can’t wait for November 2, 2004 to pass so I don’t have to see another negative campaign ad for another year. I am sick of those ads. ![]()
