I have made plans to go to the school on Tuesday but now I have another reason to go. My HOPE stuff is not settled, yet, but my grades are officially in. According to the school, my GPA is a 3.85, only .03 lower.
I know that doesn't sound like a lot to people but I believe I am being cheated.
According to the school's website on Academic Policies and Programs:
Grade Point Average CalculationSo, I do the math. I have a total of 132.00 points in all. I have 34 hours. That would be 132 ÷ 34. Well, according to my computer's calculator AND my TI-83, 132 ÷ 34 is 3.88235294117647058823529411764706. So, where is my .03 of a point? I let this issue slide one semester; I'm not going to allow it to happen again. I am going to school Tuesday and want to see them calculate my GPA in front of me so I know how they do it for certain.
Three academic grade point averages (GPAs) are displayed on students' transcripts.Institutional GPA. Determined by dividing the total honor points earned by the total hours attempted on all course work taken at Armstrong Atlantic only.
Transfer GPA. Determined by dividing the total honor points earned by the total hours attempted on all transfer course work taken at other institutions.
Overall GPA. Determined by dividing the total honor points earned by the total hours attempted on all course work taken at Armstrong Atlantic and elsewhere.A HOPE GPA is calculated for HOPE scholarship recipients and displayed on the Advising TranGuide located on the web. The HOPE GPA includes all attempted hours and may differ from a student's Overall GPA.
Boy, I can be such a bitch! At times, I wish I could be dumb. Seems dumb people have more fun.
Yesterday, my mother and I had some errands to run in the afternoon. We had no choice but to use my father's truck. It has no A/C and yesterday was hot and muggy and humid.
We came home wilted after being out all afternoon. While out, one of the stops we made was at a loan company that used to be next door to my old place of employment. While we were there, the lady that runs the loan company remembered she had a digital camera that wasn't working and wanted me to look at it. When I worked before and the loan company had computer problems, they would call over and ask me to assist with them. So, with that history, I helped them figure out their digital camera.
It needed new batteries. I exchanged batteries and then fiddled with the camera and figured it out. I then showed them how to work it. I joked about I could charge big bucks with my service and my mother harped on me to do it out of the kindness of my heart. My mother wants me to do everything out of the kindness of my heart. I told her I was doing it for free; I was just making a joke of my career path and going back to college.
Finally, a little joke I read in yesterday's CNN/SI's Baseball Power Rankings:
Seattle MarinersIf you don't get the punchline, then hop over to this page linked here.
Before going on the DL this week, Eddie Guardado had a disappointing 18 saves with the rebuilding M's. "I thought we were going to the World Series," Guardado said. "I really did." That ranks right up there with Mr. Carlson's "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."
