My school has a message board system but I'm not too fond about reading the boards in the system. I avoid them because I found the boards are dominated by a few students and most threads go off in a tangent about liberals and Democrats versus conservatives and Republicans. While I understand politics are very important, I get tired of everything from about how students study to the chaos that is the new parking lot turning into that war. Why must people go off on these tangents? I'm sure I am not the only student turned off from these political discussions. I did, however, post to a few threads on the boards. One was about parking in reply to a name I recognize from high school. The others were about professors.
To move from school to TV now, last night I watched Joe Schmo 2. It really is a hoot to watch.
Last night, Tim got the boot but looks like he returns next week because one, he was on the promos; two, he's the Joe Schmo; and three, "Piper" looked really upset about his dismissal. Last night marked the return of "Bryce," a.k.a. "Cruiser," as he was named by Tim. The actor playing "Bryce" is doing a superb job because "Bryce" really is creepy! They told him in yesterday's episode his frog "died." He went ballistic. It was a hoot. I think, however, the funniest part of the show is Tim's reactions to "Bryce." You can not fake his emotions and reactions. The female Schmo, Amanda, seems like a sweetheart. She has such a jolly temperament and looks like she's having fun and cares deeply for the characters. We need people like her and Matt, the original Joe Schmo, in the world.
And finally, last night, during the Atlanta Braves/Pittsburgh Pirates rain delay, I played some more Activision Anthology. I played Freeway and was able to get the 30 chickens in Level 1 and 10 chickens in Level 3 to unlock the Freeway commercial and "Save The Chicken Foundation" Freeway patch. We have a total of 9 goodies unlocked on the game. Even my parents love the game since it's basically there ear of video games.
In fact, as we were playing it yesterday afternoon, my father turned up Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore" up was we were playing Freeway. Looks like this game is a winner in my family.

Travis and I were watching Joe Schmo 2 last night too and were shocked when they booted Tim! We were like.. But he's the schmo! They can't boot him!
Posted by: Dragon at July 27, 2004 4:53 PMNo matter how jaded or apathetic they may say they are, college students are actually quite an idealistic bunch. It's my impression that they feel like they can make a difference in the world and for most of them, they think they can do it through politics (even if it is just some internet board).
Posted by: sya at July 27, 2004 8:45 PMSya, I agree with the idealistic, optimistic bunch but I disagree with how they carry it out. A post originally about lazy freshmen looking for the easiest classed possible has now turned into a thread about liberals, conservatives, Nazism, and Fascism and how one student dominated the forum with all his political rhetoric. With the same five names on the board over and over again, it gets tiresome to read it, which I barely do.
In the forum suggestions forum, someone asked a question about the new parking lot being environmentally friendly. That thread turned from the enviroment to a debate about all people who can't walk are lazy and need to get off their butts, even if they are physically unable to do so. These are college students and I'd think they would be not act like teenagers like they do in some of these forums. The topics change, but the actions do not.
And Trish, I can't wait for next week's episode. It looks like the bird gets it. I loved the clips they added at the end of this week's episode to show tension in "Bryce's" relationship with "Montecore."
Shame that "Bryce's" storyline must end soon. He's the best character and his relationship with Tim is the best plot on the show.
Well, if they're turning every thread into politics, there's only one thing to call them: trolls.
