You may recall I might have remarked about some land in the Sandfly area of town that the residents in the area fought to prevent from being developed. At first, Target wanted the land but backed out of the land after residents took them to court. After that, Wal-Mart decided it would build a supercenter at the same property. Again, the residents went to court but they were fighting Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart had the resources to fight the residents back and fought until the residents could no longer fight the fight of their choice.
Well, this week, the Wal-Mart in Sandfly opened.
I went there this morning to buy my father a new spark plug for the lawn mower. I must say the exterior of the store is quite aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It fits in nicely with the enviroment, instead of screaming "I'M A WAL-MART! SHOP AT ME!" The inside of the it, however, looks like a Super Wal-Mart. It wasn't bad looking at all. It was nice and clean, which was a big bonus. It was nothing like the Chatham Plaza HellMart is replaced. I just hope it won't ever become dirty like the HellMart was. HellMart was a nasty Wal-Mart and I would not be surprised if Sam Walton would be turning in his grave if he knew the condition of that Wal-Mart.
And here is an audio post for those interested in my voice. ![]()

We had just gotten a WalMart in our area the first time this year. I have to say it was not as bad as I thought and like your's it was clean and orderly. Very easy shopping, I must say.
Well I hope that you have a good weekend. Take care and have fun...

Unfortunately, I can't get your audio post to play.
Oops! It's fixed. I was in a hurry and copied the wrong link.
Posted by: Shawn at July 23, 2004 11:58 AMWell, I got the audiopost to play, but I couldn't hear anything. Nothing coherent anyway (sounded like you got cut off after the first couple of words).
Posted by: sya at July 23, 2004 5:52 PMI haven't bothered to listen to the clip but as I was trying to post, the phone kept cutting out on me.
It was probably bad reception.
I can hear static... static... static... and then all of a sudden, real loud "and I don't like it!" and then it goes back to static and gobbley gook, LOL.
You sound kind of like Kate from KateSpot, at least from what I heard.
I really don't know what happened by I have a new post up now.
Stacey, I'll have to go listen to Kate when I have the chance.
