Tonight, Nicki, Matthew, and I went to the Charleston Riverdogs/Savannah Sand Gnats game. The commercials I saw on TV all this week said free replica jerseys to the first 500 fans. That didn't happen. I was told they were for kids but I saw some teens with them, too.
That was disappointing but the game was a blast. We had perfect weather for the game, too, until it rained. I don't believe I broke out in a sweat at all tonight.
We sat in the bleachers by the bullpen. Matthew spent the whole game calling the bullpen losers and rooting for the Riverdogs. He doesn't have a clue about baseball and started asking all these questions about the game. And #36, Thomas Mitchell, spent most of the game staring at us.
Especially when Nicki was on the phone!
Nicki was able to get a foul ball that bounced over near her. Some old man later yelled at her when she went to bathroom to give it to the kid it almost hit.
The lady behind us told Nicki she got the ball fair and square. And speaking of this lady, I want to smack some of the people she was with. They were from Jersey and rooted for #10, Jason Conlisk, because he was from Jersey. One of the guys was a New York Yankees fan.
He acted like he knew everything!
I believe I overheard him say that the South Atlantic League is the lowest league in rookie ball. That's not true. There are at least 2 rookie leagues lower than SAL's low class A ball.
But all in all, it was a good night. It started raining in the 9th, so we used the umbrellas we brought to the game. The Gnats ended up winning the game, 7-6, in the 11th inning Nicki and Matthew both would like to go to another game. ![]()
Well, it's about midnight here in Savannah, so I am off to shower, take my contacts out, and go to bed.
Later gators! ![]()
