On my way home from school today, I saw this huge jet approaching Hunter AAF via Montgomery Crossroads as I was coming north from school on White Bluff Road. Seeing planes approaching Hunter is not weird. What struck me was the route. Planes usually follow streets into landing at Hunter, but it's usually Eisenhower Drive. If that road continued into Hunter, it would be the runway. Montgomery is south of Eisenhower. Plus, this jet was a little lower than most planes are on approach. I can't recall seeing landing gear but if it was down, those paying attention for it would have spotted it. I could tell the plane belonged to the Japanese, or so I assume, because I could see in the full the plane's tail. It was white with a big red dot, just like the Japanese flag. I wonder if the prime minister was on it.
I have Fox News on behind me. They mentioned the Canadian prime minister landed at Hunter, near Savannah. I just like to make a correction. Hunter is not near Savannah. It is IN Savannah. Had I continued going north on White Bluff Road on my way home, I would have been traveling next to Hunter at one point. Well, I wonder if I see on TV the prime minister of Japan.
If he was on that plane, that's the closest I've ever been to a world leader - 2000 feet away and 200 feet in the air!
Now Fox is about to talk about G8 security. Don't you think this is all fun for me?
Oh, as for school? Let's see. In my History class, we have a strong minded, liberal, vocal woman in her '30's in the class. As we were talking about cowgirls and those other well know western women
, she brings up Iron Jawed Angels. Being in the professor's class last semester, I knew he would bring it up, but not in the 19th century Wild West segment of class. It's more of a Progressive movement item. Well, knowing we were talking about the Wild West and not Progressivism (which most of the class doesn't know yet, probably), this well Americanized Iranian girl speaks up and says we're not at that time period yet. She's vocal, too. Well, the Liberal nearly rips into the Iranian about she's wanting to know, anyway. It doesn't matter that we're talking about the Wild West, what we're really talking about is the women's suffrage & equalization movement!
We were taking about professional whores! I timidly bring up that he will get to Iron Jawed Angels later and the professor does speak up about he'll get to it later since it's more involved with Progressivism, not the lives of women in the Wild West.
At least I only have to put up with this until the end of July.
Ethics was ok. I was probably the only vocal person in class, which isn't much so far this semester. We are to get in groups when class starts to discuss out attendance question. Today's question was to define the characteristics of the ideal Southern Gentleman in the antebellum period. It's not a graded question but I end up having to define it for my group. I guess watching North and South as a child and living in the South my whole life, defining this caricatures is not hard.
In other news, I got a small little gift in the mail yesterday. it's a Jack In The Box antenna topper. The m is blowing a bubble and has on an Anaheim Angels batting helmet. The friend that sent it to me sent it because she knows I like
baseball.
Isn't that sweet?
Well, that's it for now. ![]()
