I totally forgot about this today.
Blame the first week of school jitters I'm suffering from. The anxiety of bombing these classes is getting to me.
Once I get back into the swing of things, I'll be fine.
And now, the Thursday Threesome:
Onesome: When you're curious- Is there a specific subject you're especially curious about? A person? A region of the world? An animal? A field of study? History. I enjoy history and geography and I like watching the History Channel (when I'm not watching
baseball). Many people think I'm a history major but I'm not. However, I figured I'll get a history minor. That will make people happy. ![]()
Twosome: you find lots of interesting- What do you consider your most interesting trait/ feature? I don't know. Maybe my humor? ![]()
Threesome: things to do- What's on your list of things to do everyday, whether you want to or not? Filing, phone calls, homework, chasing around after kiddos, cooking, cleaning, etc. Homework, for the most part.
And laundry, when needed. I'm not doing any tonight 'cause I'm going to school in my swimsuit, flip flops, and shorts. I figured on a Friday, why not? ![]()
Goodness! I am flustered at the moment.
A bill collector called my house line that we just got within a month a few minutes ago. The caller ID displayed as Private Directory. She asked for me. We have hardly given this phone number out to anyone. Even my friends do not have the number. I asked the lady how did she get my phone number. She would not answer and started fighting with me. I told her I wanted to know. She said it didn't matter. I said yes it did because the phone is NOT in my name. I have NEVER had a land line in my name. She wouldn't answer. She would not take "I don't have the money at the moment and this is my parents' phone for an answer" I gave her. She kept going after me. I kept telling her my answer that I know my rights since I worked in bankruptcy. I requested that they no longer to call me and that is my right. She said they had the right to call until they got the money. I said I was getting mad. She said her client was getting mad. She was not budging and neither was I. My mother overheard it all. My mother knows her debtors' rights, too. Finally, I hung up on the lady. She just wouldn't get it and wanted me to pay right then and there, I guess. I'm sorry, but I don't play those games. If they call again, I'll answer it, requesting certain information. I'm not letting them abuse me.
I don't have a job right now. I'd like one but I'm not fortunate enough to find one that will work with me going to school. Even the Writing Center job I can probably get wouldn't start until August. The only money I'll be getting soon, probably the beginning of next month, isn't much, but it's something to make my creditors happy. I was planning to use it to work on my debts before this call. I don't like being in debt. I wasn't in debt trouble until I lost my job. I'm trying as hard as I can. Sure, my credit is very bad at the moment but it can be repaired. Anybody can repair their credit, even if it takes time. I know I can and I will.
I guess that's something I can write for my Writing Center audition.

Oh that reminds me of those assholes that used to call here at 3 and 4 in the morning asking for the lady that USED to have this number... I would tell them not to call anymore because they have the wrong number etc etc and they just kept calling. And the one little prick(he tried to tell me he was the night manager) was RUDE!! I don't play those games.. I called the office number during the day and spoke to the REAL manager and she put a stop to it. Never have had a call from them since!
Posted by: Dragon at June 3, 2004 11:59 PMIf you are threatened, that's illegal. The can't say something like you can go to jail. If they do, they are breaking the law and in fact subject to being pursued by the government. Reasonable times are 8a.m.-9p.m.
They are not allowed to share that information with third parties. They are also not allowed to contact your employer if your employer frowns upon that type of call.
Basically, they are not meant to make you terrified to live, even though they do.
As for that "lady" from yesterday, she just pissed me off.
She must be one of their top people.
Well, if they call again, I will be talking to them and requesting certain information. This phone stuff is going to stop.
I'm still trying to figure out how they got that number. I think the thing about that last night that pissed me off the most was her attitude with me when I wanted to know how she got that number. It most certainly DID matter to me since the phone was not in my name. My mother said I was too patient with that "lady." She said she would have hung up as soon as the woman started to fight me. My mother heard the whole call.
Posted by: Shawn at June 4, 2004 7:33 AMI just hate callers period. We got so tired of getting telemarketers calling for mortgages and credit cards we finally just changed our number and DID NOT give it to any of our companies. I pay my bills on time, I don't need anything from them or want any "special offer" they want to try and give me so they have NO reason to be calling me.
Posted by: Dragon at June 5, 2004 4:44 AMWhoa, that's pretty crazy. The worst I had to put up with was my housemates' boyfriends calling in the middle of the night while I was trying to get some sleep.
Posted by: sya at June 5, 2004 9:39 AMDragon, that's the way to go!
And Sya, too bad there isn't a Fair Boyfriend Hounding Practices Act.
