I'm feeling better after last nights temper tantrum. Sometimes, you have to let it out. I felt better last night after watching the end of the Montréal Expos/Atlanta Braves game and eating. By the way, I saw enough of the game that was needed to be seen. The Braves came from behind to win the game in the 9th.
Today was the first day of school for the summer semester. It was basically orientation for all the classes. The first class was American History from Reconstruction to the present. I had this professor last semester.
During the class, students that didn't have him before were asking how the essay portion of the test would be like. He remarked that you would be writing your little hands off on it. I murmured. "Umm Hmm." He laughed and then told the class not to mind me, that he had me last semester so I know he was telling the truth.
My second class was Ethics in History. It deals with slavery. It will require some writing but the writing will be all in class.
We watched a video on Olaudah Equiano and are to download Chapter 2 from his book to read tonight. I will not be downloading it.
I have a copy of The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa the African from when I took Civilization II back in 1998. Equiano in his life time made a stop here in Savannah and was treated like crap during his stay. That's about all I remember from the book at the moment.
Finally, I had swimming but didn't swim today. We just got our syllabi and that's it. We mostly talked about how the school's schedules told students to meet in Sports Center 303. Just one problem - there is no 303! 303 is simply labelled the gym. Only 6 students are in this class and 4 of them are really beginning swimmers. Well, at least I know I shouldn't be taking a beginner's course. Not after that summer of summer lessons back in 1988 and all those summers in the pool at Ft. Bragg. We'll get in the pool, Friday.
That's it for now. I have to go and pay my car note and get some 3×5 note cards for the Ethics class.
