Now We Can Panic.
May 19, 2004

And who do I mean by "we"? I mean Braves fans. Oh, I watch a majority of that Arizona Diamondbacks/Atlanta Braves game last night. The one that Randy Johnson had a perfect game in. I missed the first 1½ of the game spending time with my parents and was flipping the channels during the early innings, too. I knew what was going on by the 4th inning and usually, I see them not resulting in the end. After the end of the Braves batting in each inning, the TBS commentators remarked about it. Towards the end, the whole crowd, Skip and Joe (in a way), and even I, were all rooting for the perfect game. The only ones not gunning for it were probably on the Braves' bench.

However, as a Braves fan, it's time to panic. Marcus Giles went down Saturday. *Frown* The Braves had 18 strikeouts against Ben Sheets and the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. And then last night, the Braves were not only no-hit, but they did not get a single baserunner. I don't think we are going to win division #13. And if that's so, that's so. It really won't be the end of the world. Heck, I can remember when the Braves didn't win. In fact, when I heard they lost the World Series in 1991, I had no clue they could play winning baseball because they were perennial losers in my mind.

And finally, for baseball news, and I am not making this up: the Seattle Mariners have hired David Lander, a/k/a "Squiggy", as a scout.

Real post will come later, if I'm in the mood. I've been busy on errands today.
