Guess Who's Inter
May 11, 2004

Nicki is. She wants to take Japanese courses. Georgia Southern is the only school nearby that offers any sort of Japanese courses, but only for a minor. My mother doesn't want Nicki to commute to Statesboro from Savannah a lot but Nicki wants to do it. Nicki needs to couse a major. She's leaning to taking Spanish, too. She figures speaking both those languages wouldn't hurt her in the job market. She just doesn't want to take English 1101 and 1102. I told her she has to take them and I didn't want to take them, either.

Speaking of me having to take those dreaded courses, my GPA has been calulated now. It's a 3.88. *Smile* Darn that B in English 1101 when I returned to school again! *Laughing* The school has my expected graduation date as March 11, 2008. I don't think so. I'll have 50 hours under my belt by the time Christmas comes around. I'll have at least 65 hours by this time next year.

Spanish and Japanese sound cool. If I knew Japanese, I could read all those Japanese science papers, but alas, I'm bad with languages.

Have you checked the requirements for the English classes to see if you could get out of them? I got out of freshman English because of my grades on the AP English exam (people who got high enough grades on the writing SAT got out too).

Congrats on your high GPA

I prefer Latin and Greek, myself, but I've also been interested in classical languages and history.

I also got out of English via AP (SATs would've gotten me out, as well -> I think its the SAT II, maybe Nicki could look into taking that if she hasn't already).

Thanks.

As for my sister, she only has a GED at the moment. If she returns to school, she would be a non-traditional student. She never took the SAT. She's the one that wants to opt out of English. My English courses are other with, for the most part. I have to take a technical English course. Anything else is optional for me. Thank goodness!

The real reasoning for her wanting to take Japanese is so she can read all her manga and watch her anime without having to get it translated.
