Now I Know For Sure My Life Ain't All That Bad.
March 2, 2004

I used "ain't!" Oops! Actually, I'm using "ain't" for a dramatic flare. I do not use the word in real life. *Smile*

Last night, I watched The Mystery of Natalie Wood. The biggest names from the movie I recognize are Alice Krige (best known as the "Borg Queen" in Star Trek: First Contact) as Natalie's mother and Michael Weatherly (probably best known as "Logan" on Dark Angel but I remember him best as "Cooper" from Loving) as Robert Wagner. I questioned the casting of Weatherly first but the more I watched it, I don't think another actor could pull it off. While Natalie had the "perfect life," she was depressed most of her life. According to the movie, she tried killing herself after Wagner had his first child. She had nearly everything in the world except the things she really wanted the most: a lover and a child. It was sad yet made me appreciate my life. I wanted to strangle her mother over the things she told her but at the same time, I could see her mother did love her. However, her mother's remarks about babies killing you were too much. I spent the morning discussing this movie with my mother and now she wants me to see Inside Daisy Clover.

In other news, today was election primary day in Georgia. My father, mother, and I went to vote together. The only things up for vote today were the presidential primary for both the Republicans and the Democrats and a nonbinding referendum for the state flag. I ended up voting in the Democratic primary because at least there my vote could make a difference. In the Republican one, there is only on candidate: George. W. Bush. They asked us what parties we were "registered" with. My mother and I both answered we aren't. We go with the best candidate. My father was the odd ball. He went straight for the Republican table.

My Psych class on Thursday was cancelled! *Thumb Up* Quite happy about it. Today, we got back the extra credit portion of Thursday's test. I got a 7 out of a 7! *Big Grin* I'm back to an A in that course. I'm happy and I'll even try to let the C in English slide. *Evil Laugh* I know I shouldn't be so anal about my grades but they are very important. I am trying to get the HOPE scholarship. I am not eligible for it until I get 30 hours in. Plus, I'll need a 3.0 GPA. I know getting a C in English and As in my other courses will give me a 3.7 GPA after this semester but it could be higher because I know I could do better. I know, I just need to let it go.

Speaking of go, I should. *Laughing* I have homework *Rolling My Eyes* to do. Later!

And which flag did you vote for?

Yes, darn it! I am nosey.

I voted for the current flag. The blue flag would be nice if it didn't have that ugly parade of flags at the bottom of it!

I don't see anything wrong with using the word "ain't"! You make it sound like it's a bad thing!

Trish, actually, I was brought up by my mother and my Catholic primary school that ain't is not a word and is not to be used. It is wrong to use it and I shutter at times when I here it spoken. That never prevented my father from saying it and he used all the time around us. I've grown up to know "ain't" as such that it can be used for an effect in speech. Some things are not as dramatic when I say "isn't" as when I say "ain't." Don't worry, I don't mind singing the word!

Actually I do believe the English Dictionary has added the word "ain't" and has it listed as a slang word. And also, spell check recognizes it as a word... So technically... It IS a word.

It was in the dictionary when I was a child! It is a contraction of the isn't contraction. Or at least that's what I remember it to be. I remember a big deal Brian Rhodes and Mrs. Colborn made in 3rd grade.
