I've seen this quiz around many sites: Yankee or Dixie? My score: 74% (Dixie). That is a pretty strong Southern score! You think living a combined 18 years off the Savannah River and 4½ years in North Carolina does the trick?
Well, I do have some northern influence in my speech patterns. Both my grandfathers are/were Yankees. Grandmother was a Canadian that grew up in Florida. Only Grandma was a good ole southern woman. You know they all made impressions on their children which some are my parents. ![]()
Looks like the Port-A-Potties and gates are back! The city was able to get the party back. The city, it seems, wasn't going to play the game the Savannah Waterfront Association wanted to play. It's a shame much damage has been done already.
There will be no live bands this year. Some tourists have canceled their plans. I think it's disgusting that the city and the SWA can't get their affairs in order for the biggest event in the city. St. Patrick's day is where many people make their economic year, not Christmas, in Savannah. They should do better planning for the event.
Spring Training is starting to gear up.
Boy have I missed baseball! The winter can be quite depressing without it. And speaking of seasons and weather, the window in my room is open. It is again beautiful outside! I don't want the cold to return true">at all. Call me weird, but I enjoy 90ºF weather at times, when I can spend it in an air conditioned car. It's what I've grown up with. It's what I know. In fact, I'm itching to go somewhere on the road at this moment. Shame I won't be able to go anywhere this Spring Break. It will be spent doing my mother's site for her. I promised her last month I would do it then and I will keep that promise with her.
Finally, last night, I did my taxes. My parents did their taxes, too. In fact, with me being a student living with them, they got a tax break with me.
They were grateful for that. I feel like I'm a burden on my parents but then I must remember that when I had a job, I did help them. The first year I had my car, I allowed my mother to use it since her vehicle at the time was not very reliable and needed work. I paid the note faithfully. I also paid for bills here and there and did help the family. While I might be a burden now, I'm going back to school so I will have a degree, some skills, and won't have to be a burden again. It's just what families do or should do. I guess I am lucky my family is close, even if we don't feel it at times. I'm going to have to complete my FAFSA form today and work on some school scholarship papers.
That's it for now.

I got 51% Dixie... Guess all those years in PA didn't help and the fact that Virginia may be south of the Mason Dixon but has so many different people in it it's hard to say it's North or South ya know? Oh well.. I'm a "Middler" then!!
Posted by: Dragon at February 21, 2004 1:02 PMI'm 60% Dixie. I don't know how the hell that happened. LOL! Somewhere between NY and here I lost my city slicker-ness.
Now and Forever,
Liz
My results said I am 37% Yankee (Barely Yankee) Not surprisingly, almost all my answers turned up Midwest, Great Lakes or west of Great Lakes region...
which exactly where I'm from. hehehe
