Last night, I watched CSI: Miami and The History Channel.
CSI: Miami was driving me a little bonkers. Part of the story was set not in Miami but at South Georgia prison. The details mention in the episode just didn't add up to all I know about South Georgia. The biggest thing was the city of Macon in Macon County.
Pull out an atlas next time before you write an episode. Anyone will see that the city of Macon is in Bibb County, not Macon County. Consider this your geography lesson of the day. ![]()
The other thing I watched was a show on the History Channel about The Christmas Truce. It was a short lived, spontaneous truce between British and German soldiers on the western front of the first World War in 1914. Just as I'm finally getting All Quiet On The Western Front out of my mind, the emotions that movie stirred in me came rushing back as I was watching about that truce. The brutality of the war just sickens me everytime I see a picture. I think the thing that saddens me the most is that humanity didn't learn from that first war. Well, they did learn better ways of killing the enemy in that war but they didn't learn how to take all the deaths and pain from that war to make sure it didn't happen again. It just happened again 30 years later and more people were killed and hurt. If you stop and think about it, we are still feeling effects from that war today, nearly 90 years after it started.
Finally, I couldn't watch much more, especially since it was moving on to the war resuming after the short peace. I switched over to "Headlines."

Yeah, I don't even think there's a prison in the city of Macon. I have driven by the prison in Macon County on the way to Andersonville though.

Just too many holes in the South Georgia part of the plot. That and Matthew Lawrence as an 18-year-old kid?
How are we to take that one seriously?
