2003 In Review
December 20, 2003

I got this from S.

1.What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? Drove to Augusta and back on weekend and did all the driving myself. Of course, my mother was with me, however, this was the first time I did all the driving.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? No, because I know I can't keep them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No. fortunately.

5. What countries did you visit? None. *Frown*

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003? A little more cash. *Laughing*

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? February 1, 2003. That's the day the Columbia was lost. I was asleep when my mother tried to wake me up. At first, I didn't want to wake but when she said the shuttle was missing, I bolted from bed and turned on the TV. The rest of the day is a blur but I remember the shock and awe about it and how Challenger kept floating in my mind, too.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Raising my GPA from 1.33 at the beginning of the year to 2.50 at the moment. Of course, I only was able to take 2 courses but I got A's in both of them.

9. What was your biggest failure? It's not a failure, really, but letting my sister take my car. I miss it! *Crying* Maybe I'll get it back, soon.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No.

11. What was the best thing you bought? A nightstand. That's the truth. *Laughing*

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Nicki moved out to her own place. That's about it.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? See number #12.

14. Where did most of your money go? Bills and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Not much, really.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003? "The Remedy" by Jason Mraz.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder?. Happier, believe it or not.
Older and wiser? Yes.
Thinner or fatter? About the same. The jeans I'm wearing I bought last year around this time.
Richer or poorer? Poorer. *Crying* It's ok, it's just making me stronger and it's just temporary.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Taken more school courses if I had the money to.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Getting depressed over stupid stuff.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? Probably just sitting around the house.

21.(Shawn ponders what happened to question number 21. There is no question number 21!)

22. Did you fall in love in 2003? No.

23. How many one-night stands? None.

24. What was your favorite TV program? CSI

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No.

26. What was the best book you read? The only book I recall I read this year was some bad romance novel that was floating around the house. Most of my reading was of the magazine variety.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I didn't really add anyone new to my music collection except an Olivia Newton-John greatest hits CD. Of the few CDs I did get this year, I already had CDs by those acts.

28. What did you want and get? The only things I really wanted this year would be Céline Dion's One Heart and John Mayer's Heavier Things which I got the week they came out.

29. What did you want and not get? The new Amy Grant album. I'll continue to wait for that.

30. What was your favorite film of this year? I didn't see many this year. Probably Bruce Almighty. Legally Blonde 2 wasn't as good as the first one.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Not much and I turned 25.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Getting out of debt.

Comments

1.Chose not to let my traumatic past control me anymore. According to one of my best guy friends, that's the best news he's heard from me in 2 years.

2. Not a single one. Lasted about 9 weeks before I absolutely had to drink {soda) pop. Yes, I call it pop. Also swore just as much if not more than last year.

3. Although I haven't heard from her, my good friend Annie gave birth earlier this year...I hope (meaning, I hope nothing awful happened and that she had a successful delivery and a healthy child). Annie's the friend my bunny is named after.

4. Not this year, thankfully

5. None.

6. A lot more control over finances!!!

7. There's no one date in particular that'll remain "etched" in my memory. I can't remember specifically when I just woke up and made the conscious decision not to let my past dictate my choices (particularly in being open to new relationships). It's freeing, let me tell ya! I also loved all of the times I spent with my very good friend T... and the day my friendship with my dear friend S finally came through to the good side again after several months of weirdness/akwardness/fighting that started in November of last year and finally got to the good side and became even better than ever in August!! I can't stay away from him. He can't stay away from me. We've tried. Our friendship survived a RM song ("My Confession") and came out without any kind of romance but a hell of a lot stronger than ever.

8. Leaving my ex-coach and finding a new one who is so much better for me!! Change is always hard and when you've been coached by the same guy for 5 years, it just gets harder. But I broke free when it wasn't working for me anymore and my reward was a coach who is definitely what I needed!

9. I saved absolutely NO money this year.

10. Yes.

11. The crafty, artsy papers and embellishments to make my best friend Abby's (and her hubby's) wedding present. The poem was my original and I just presented it really beautifully. It left her speechless and in tears(of joy, of course). I don't think anything else I could've bought for them would've been that great.

12. Gosh, I don't know.

13. Earlier in the year, I'd have to say it was my friend S's behavior that depressed me. By March, I'd remembered resigning myself and trying to get used to the idea of never hearing from him again. It was supposed to be a good birthday but we'd fought just before so I was a little depressed. Then he came back in May but disappeared again. We had another fight two months later and somehow by August we were as we used to be, only better. But I tell ya, the thought of facing most of 2003 without him was depressing!

14. I plead the Fifth!!

15. Again, when my friend S came back. I got "really, really, really" excited. My mom and my other really good friend T were less than thrilled. I guess no one else on the outside can understand us. We're two peas in a pod.

16. "Where Is The Love" by the Black Eyed Peas, feat. Justin Timberlake

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier or sadder? Definitely Happier
Older and wiser? Uh-huh
Thinner or fatter? See question #10. But unlike for most people, soon as my health condition gets fixed, I drop all the water weight I'm carrying.
Richer or poorer? I plead the Fifth.

18. Save more money

19. Spend less money

20. Christmas morning will just be spent opening presents and being with my wabbits. The night before, my non-blood-related relatives are coming over for Christmas Eve dinner.

21. the incredible disappearing question!

22. Over and over again with Nick and Annie.

23. I stopped doing that in 2000!

24. THIRD WATCH, baby!!!

25. No I don't hate anyone.

26. This year, I absolutely loved Nicholas Sparks' "The Wedding".

27. I LOVE The Black Eyed Peas! My bro played their music in his car one day and I just had to find out more. He was surprised I liked it so much.

28. When Nick was in the hospital in the little intubator, I just wanted him healthy again so I could bring him home. I couldn't think of anything I wanted more. Nick and Annie are so bonded that if anything happened to Nick, Annie would literally pass away with a broken heart too. And I'd have lost them both! So when I got the call the he was okay and doing fine, I got exactly what I wanted.

29. I wanted a dog. Still don't have one!

30. Definitely "Bruce Almighty"!! I have the DVD and watched it twice already. Gave the movie as a Christmas present to my good friend DeDe's boys. They absolutely loved it too! Absolutely an all-around great movie!

31. Went out to Red Lobster with my family and the non-related relatives that are coming over on Wednesday. Also tried to keep a smile on my face even though I was depressed about my S. Oh yeah I turned an uneventful 26.

32. A DOG!!!!!

33. Huh?

34. My beloved rabbits as always!

35. I didn't "fancy" anyone but I love the cast of Third Watch!

36. *blows raspberry*

37. Missed S until we got back on track again.

38. Well, technically haven't *met* him yet but so far, he's great and I am really looking forward to finding out if there's really something amazing there, when I go meet him in March. "'Net dating" is so NOT me for a bunch of reasons. Circumstantially, we just live on opposite ends of the country. If either of us lived closer, there isn't a doubt in my mind, I'd have agreed to go out with him.

39. The greater the risk the greater the reward!

40. It's 8:40 a.m. You want me to remember a song lyric?!

Posted by: misbah kyrene at December 21, 2003 11:41 AM

Well, of course you two are peas in a pod when it comes to humor!

And did you know Fergie of the Black Eye Peas is Stacy Ferguson of Kids Incorporated? Prior to Black Eye Peas, she was in a group known as Wild Orchid. And speaking of Wild Orchid, they had a song in Matthew Perry's Fools Rush In. Their song, "Talk To Me," which is mainly Stacy singing, was in the movie at the part, I think, the nightclub opens.

Yeah, definitely the humor thing although we have this weird soul connection thing. Proof that "soul mates" don't only have a romantic connotation. We're on the same wavelength, we know what the other's thinking, we just get each other. And those months where he tried to pretend that we didn't have that connection were like a slap in the face. Fortunately, it just couldn't be denied.

I KNEW Fergie sounded familiar!! I never saw Kids Incorporated and I never heard of Wild Orchid but I've naturally seen Fools Rush In so many times that I'd recognize a song in it! Wow, thanks for that tidbit. For months I was wondering why "Fergie" sounded so familiar!

Posted by: misbah kyrene at December 21, 2003 1:43 PM

oh yeah, forgot to add, Fergie looks SOOOOOOO different with the BEP. I just Googled her to see pictures of her before but I have to say I think she looks better now. Hip hop'd/funk'd up...and for the better!

Posted by: misbah kyrene at December 21, 2003 1:57 PM

I can't call her Fergie. I've always known of her as Stacy.

And "Talk To Me" is on the first Wild Orchid album. A few years ago, it cost me $19.00 to get that CD for my sister at the Disneyworld Virgin Megastore (GREAT STORE, believe it or not. Got some good CDs there). She actually has both Wild Orchid CDs and would have had the third had RCA chose to release it. RCA didn't and Wild Orchid broke up after that.

I have one WIld Orchid single that I got for $1.99 at FYE a few years ago.
