Do you really want to know what's in my freezer and what's under the kitchen sink? I don't think so.
Well, the New York Yankees won last night and I'm not too happy about it. I'm starting to see Major League Baseball is like a pageant. Sure, it's fun to watch the competition but when it boils down to the end, the girl/team that spends the most money and people fear over name alone will always win. After a while, it gets boring seeing the same people win over and over again. Once in a while, you want to see someone else get the big prize.
And guess what? I'm sick of seeing the Yankees win year after year. I'm sick of seeing them able to spend $200 million foolishly on players when someone doesn't do the job while other teams have to spend their money wisely. I'm sick of hearing on TV how great they are when there are 29 other teams out there with players that for the most part, give their heart and soul to play the same game. There's no denying it that Fox's announcers sound all lovy-dovy to the Yankees and they are pre-ordained by God to win and if the other teams do anything, it's just a case of luck.
I'm sick of it being the same team year after year. It's getting old. ![]()
I haven't been watch baseball that long and do root for the Atlanta Braves. And I bet fans of the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Montréal Expos, and Florida Marlins all get sick of the Braves winning every year. I know they want to see their team get the big prize this year. They are sick of waiting for next year.
I understand the pain of the fans of the Chicago Cubs after reading that the Boston<

It's not that I'm sick of the Braves always being first, I'm sick of the Phillies always letting me down. I know they have the potential to be World Champs, yet, they don't strive for it.
And since the Cubbies aren't in the WS this year, I will, reluctantly, root for Florida.
Posted by: Tammtamm at October 17, 2003 1:51 PMLook at the bright side... I read an article on the 'net that said if the Yankees win this Series, George Steinbrenner is going to retire. hehehe!
Now and Forever,
Liz
As you can probably guess, I'm taking this pretty hard. WHY OH WHY did it have to be the Skankees??? It would have been a lot less painful if the Sox had lost to Oakland, or to the Twins. ANYONE but the hated Skankees!
But I will be rooting for the Marlins. I remember Josh Beckett from his minor league days in Portland, Maine, and I want to see him kick some Y***** butt. Sea Dogs fans hate the Y*****s just as much as we do, so thye'll be rooting for Josh and his team, too!
GO FISH!!!
Posted by: Christine at October 17, 2003 6:44 PMEverything you said is all what it means to be a sports fan. Think I like watching as my fave teams lose play off games and all because of really bad refs? I've seen it too many times when the refs will call BS calls on one team and let the other get away with murder... It's SUPPOSED to be fair but face it... It's not. It's what makes it all ok to yell and throw things at our TV's!
Tamm - So true about the Phillies. Many people expected them to represent the East this year. Some how, Atlanta opened it book of tricks this year and Florida didn't seem to give up. I don't know what went wrong that last series at Pro Player.
Liz - AS IF! I think MANY of us would enjoy that but I doubt it would ever happen.
Christine - I'd love to see another round of the Bronx Zoo.
Hopefully it will be sooner than later. Yesterday, I was overlooking some of the other teams' message board. Fans of the Twins, the Mets, and the Mariners were discussing the same things in regards to the Yankees. I think if the game has low ratings this year, you can't blame the Marlins. Sure, many of the people that would have watched for the Cubs weren't going to watch once the Marlins made it but once the Yankees made it, it turned a lot of other people off.
Trish, I don't doubt that some calls are incorrect (especially in football!). I think many of them are made because the official will do anything to respect a team's name or does anything in their power to screw other a team because they don't like them.
ONE MORE THING: GO MARLINS!
