Last night, I had trouble going to bed. I slept in the living room so other family members could sleep in my room and enjoy the A/C unit. No dreams of any sexy guys, however. ![]()
Around midnight, Lifetime started airing The Handmaid's Tale. The movie had some religious nuts running America and women that could have children were forced to have children for those that couldn't. It's based on some book. I only watched parts of it but it was scary and I would rather die then live in an American society like that. Sad thing is there are probably fools out there that would be happy to be in control of the America depicted in that movie. ![]()
I guess my mother would be right. She would tell me as a child if the Russians invaded the US, I would die because I wouldn't obey them. Remember, it was still the Cold War and Russians and Soviets were interchangeable. I still have a defiant streak in me. Don't worry, it only comes out in times of injustice.

A lot of post-apopcalyptic sci-fi stories are like that. I guess authors want people to realize that if things go on a certain way, the results could be terrible. Just like "1984" and "Brave New World".
