Computer Burps.
May 12, 2003

Don't you hate it when your computer burps when in the middle of something? Like my computer just did as I was trying to do this entry. *Crazy*

Monday Mission:

1. Who are your favorite cartoon characters? Babs Bunny. *Smile* That's all I can think of at the moment.

2. Have you yet reached the point where you feel like you are from a different generation than today's youth? Yes! I felt that way since Backstreet Boys were the hip thing.

3. What was the first Music Video that really impressed you? What made it so amazing? The first video I can recall seeing is "Mickey" by Toni Basil. I was young and the song was just catchy. But why does Toni's cheerleading outfit not match the other girls in color scheme! I also recall "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John. I was a young kid when these were popular on HBO. Neither one made a "I want to be hot and bothered as a cheerleader or in the gym" type of girl. *Laughing*

4. Name a song and an era that comes to mind when you hear the word "Retro." Disco! And "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor.

5. How has your life been affected by HIV or AIDS? I'm a child of the '80's. The perception of it has changed over time all I know is I don't want it and I'm very scared of it. I know my generation was not able to be enjoy "free love."
Not that I'd want to.

6. Yesterday in the USA, we celebrated "Mothers Day," a day where we honor the mothers in our lives. If you were on a "special day" nominating committee, who or what would you recommend that we create a day in honor of? Are mean there aren't enough "special" days, weeks, and months out there already?

7. Last week, we have several Tornadoes tore through many neighborhoods, destroying homes and devastating the lives of the residents. How would you feel if you lost every possession you owned? Or would it matter? How would you go on with your life? I would have to get on with my life. I don't like to think about it because it would depress me.

BONUS: Do you remember the 21st night of September? Sorry, I can't remember that night nor this song. *Laughing*

The perception of HIV/AIDS is very interesting. I too remember people in the 80's being terrified of it although it wasn't possible to get it from touching hands, toilet seats, etc. Intellectually, I know what's the problem, but I don't honestly feel *scared* per se because I don't know anyone with HIV/AIDS.

What I do find scary, though, is that through today's technology of multiple drug treatments and vaccines, people have started becoming lax about their health again.

Yes, the lax attitude people have about it today is the scariest thing out there.
