You know, Ashleigh Moore is missing and it would have been a perfect opportunity for the news stations in Savannah to do a report about Levi's Call.
No, I don't recall ANY station doing an article on that.
Tonight is Free Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins. My mother, Matthew, Beth, and I go to it at the Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts off Abercorn St. We were on that side of town, anyway.
Guess what? Not one, but TWO local stations were filming Free Scoop Night at this store. Yes, WJCL - ABC 22 (who also run the news department for our Fox station, WTGS 28) and WTOC - CBS 11 were recording footage for Free Scoop Night.
Since when did FREE ICE CREAM constitute a news article?
I thought the news media was to report newsworthy items to the city. I didn't know a state law enforcement warning alerting state citizens of missing child was not news worthy but free ice cream is!
WJCL recorded the server scooping my cookies and cream. WTOC recorded the server getting Beth mint chocolate chip.
This is such a fluffy city.

As always, the stupid media has their priorities screwed up. Now you know why I don't watch the news. I hate it.
The first 10 minutes of the news is real news, most nights. It the padded minutes that could go to educate citizens but instead going to free ice cream is what ticks me off!
Posted by: Shawn at April 30, 2003 8:23 PMYeah true... I just get tired of the "someone shot here" "Something broke into here" "so and so beat so and so"... It gets too depressing. Like this morning, while I was sitting waiting for my truck to get inspected they showed a story on GOod Morning America I think it was (No idea what show is what in the am since I never watch) and they showed some "official" in Texas.. They had a 9 foot alligator in this neighborhood. So this lady calls and they say they will come take care of. Now she thinks they will be coming to take it away etc. so she has her kids out watching and she's video taping it cause it's a big deal. So anyway, they show up.. put a rope around this things neck and DRAG IT THROUGH THE STREET!! Then when it starts rolling, they pull over and SHOOT IT IN PUBLIC!! I was so pissed I had to leave the l;ittle office and go outside. told them.. they better hope Steve Irwin didn't see that!! Now you see why I hate the news and news shows??

Believe it or not, people do eat it. Or maybe that cop needed some new boots!
Posted by: Shawn at May 1, 2003 11:31 AMYesterday on the radio station my boss listens to they played that thing from the President about the Amber Alert. They mentioned how all these more well known missing children's parents were there and it made me think of the Ashleigh Moore case and how no one outside of Georgia will ever know about it.

Posted by: Laura at May 1, 2003 12:51 PMI read in the newspaper that a Congressman from here spoke about her on the House floor a few days ago. I know, if it hasn't happened already, it will this weekend, America's Most Wanted will be showcasing her story. That's some exposure for her case.
Have they even said anything about her in Atlanta? For all I know, her case is only known in Savannah. However, I know people across the world know about if they have been to my site. Also, I do have people querying about it, including a person in Brooklyn.
My speaking about her case is not an attempt to drive in readers. I'm just questioning what all I've heard and seen in the media on the case and trying to get the word out if I can.
I hope the child is still alive, pray to God.
And even if she isn't, I hope they find her soon. It's just so sad.
