I think I'm on my way to feeling better. I've got my *NSYNC on. I slept part of the day yesterday. About a good 4 hours for a nap. I stayed in bed until after 11. I'm lucky I'm up at the moment. So, since I'm lucid and in gear, I'll just do all my posting at one.
At the moment when I'm awake and have to drain my sinuses, I've been re-reading The Tachyon Web by Christopher Pike, Like the The Starlight Crystal, it deals with the future, love, and space travel. Of all the Christopher Pike books I've read, those are my favorite ones. Maybe they are my favorites since they appeal to my adventurous side while I can still keep my feet planted on the ground. They could be my favorites, too, because, for the most part, humans aren't warring with each other. They are peaceful and there is no hate among all the different group of people.

1. Do you remember the first LP, 45, CD or CD single that you bought? Recreate the scene for me. It was a tape of Repeat Offender by Richard Marx. Mind you, I was 13 at the time and was afraid of being found out I liked Richard Marx. You know who 13 can be. You're embarrassed by some things because you're afraid people will make fun of you. Anyway, I had my sister go through the check-out line at Wal-Mart for me to by it. She was 12 and she didn't care. This was back in 1992. The next week, I was able to buy Rush Street at the PX on my own. I wasn't embarrassed for buying that album because it was a current album and "Take This Heart" was big at the time.
2. What was the last CD or song that you actually paid money for? Cry by Faith Hill.
3. It is my personal opinion that "Munchos" and "Funions" are the most perfect snack food ever. What do you think is the best snack food ever? Pizza Rolls! Yum! And Krunchers chips in the barbeque flavor. And tortillia chips with iehter cheese dip or salsa! And E.L. Fudge butter and fudge filling cookies. You know what, I'm hungry. That's why I'm rattling everything off.
4. Comedian George Carlin once pointed we consider the things we like to keep around us to be our "stuff," whereas other people's stuff is just junk to us (ok, he used more colorful language, but you get the idea). What "stuff" do you have that someone else might just throw away if they were cleaning out your house? Probably my stuffed animals from my childhood. I still love them but my parents try to suggest to me maybe I should donate them or store them. I just can't bring myself to do that at the moment. I know one day, I'll have to store them. Let me store them when I'm ready.
5. Do you think it is wrong for people to rush to e-Bay and start selling Space Shuttle Columbia collectibles? I think it's wrong to post debris on there. Now that's just sick. However, there are people out there that are going to want to make a buck off anything. You can't stop them from doing it but you don't have to buy it. Simple as that. And then, there are some people that want to buy it off eBay, no matter the cost. Maybe spending all that money for a patch is the way they can cope with it.
6. Does it bother you when President Bush speaks about God and invokes scripture quotations from the Bible during his speeches? Only

Monday Mission:
1. Do you remember the first LP, 45, CD or CD single that you bought? Recreate the scene for me.
*Yep, it was one of Celine Dion's French language CDs back when I was oh, 12, I think. I had just started taking French in 7th grade and was struggling a little. I found one that seemed pretty cool and liked it instantly. Incidentally, this is how I first heard of Celine. Fast forward to 13 years later, I hold a B.A. in French/French studies. And if I get to meet Celine, I could easily hold an entire day's conversation about anything, completely in French.
Yes, I know what she's saying in all her French language songs.
2. What was the last CD or song that you actually paid money for?
*"Actually paid money for"?? as opposed to what? Bananas?! Like Shawn, "Cry" by Faith Hill.
3. It is my personal opinion that "Munchos" and "Funions" are the most perfect snack food ever. What do you think is the best snack food ever?
*Easy to peel tangerines.
They're so juicy, tart 'n sweet. Nothing compares to that. Or frozen grapes. Yum.
4. Comedian George Carlin once pointed we consider the things we like to keep around us to be our "stuff," whereas other people's stuff is just junk to us (ok, he used more colorful language, but you get the idea). What "stuff" do you have that someone else might just throw away if they were cleaning out your house?
*Good lord, I don't like the implications of this question! All I picture are images of police tape around the house...or a certain episode of Friends(The One Where Mr Heckles Dies). Until that day comes, no one else but me is even allowed to *touch* my stuff. Our housekeeper isn't even allowed in my room.
5. Do you think it is wrong for people to rush to e-Bay and start selling Space Shuttle Columbia collectibles?
*I don't think it's wrong. It's a piece of history, whether or not it failed. I'm not saying I'd jump to bid on it but there's nothing terribly wrong with commemorating something people had high hopes for. Every little thing is profitable to so many people.
6. Does it bother you when President Bush speaks about God and invokes scripture quotations from the Bible during his speeches?
*Whatever happened to separation of Church and State?!!!
7. I have a friend who think's she's being photographed in public restrooms. What paranoid delusion do you have?
*I'm--as my mom would say--"irrationally paranoid" of the idea that her ex husband(my father) could come back and kill us all (and then kill himself. a murder-suicide) the moment he sees me in the news. She says it's ridiculous. I say it's not. I'm very afraid of it. He's nearly killed her before right in front of me. All the red flags are there. She's finally filing for divorce. Separation has worked for her so far. She has a right to live her own life and be able to marry again if she finds someone(she's only 47). But there's a finality to divorce that men prone to domestic violence just can't accept. He's already lost us all but divorce is like, front and center. Plus I'm going to be famous soon and that's really going to piss him off. In his warped mind, that's enough reason for an "honor killing"(honor to his name, that is!) But all my mom says is, "You have no faith. That's your problem. And I believe you go when it's time." Yeah well, after spending my entire childhood wishing I was dead, you can understand how very clingy I am to *life* now that I have so much to live for.
Bonus: Can't you feel the weight of my stare?
*Baby, I can feel the weight of something else too!
Have you seen the Unison video? One of the songs performed on the video is in French and is off the Incognito album. I can't remember it off hand then other its English translation was "Deliver Me." I know Moi was in the song title, that's for sure! I took the video into French class one day so we could watch it.
Posted by: Shawn at February 3, 2003 9:50 PMDelivre Moi. Yes, I know. Of course I have the Unison video...which reminds me...I don't want to be The Last To Know just who that very hot guy in the brown leather bomber is in the TLTK video!! damn! lol. I watch it just to see that face. *ahem* anyway, back to french, yes, Delivre Moi is okay. I personally love her Les Premieres Annees album and "Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore" off The French Album(or "D'Eux" as mine is called) just can't be topped!!
Posted by: misbah kyrene f. at February 4, 2003 2:34 AMThe only French album I own by Céline is Live Á Paris which still has three songs in English. Hey, at least "Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore" is in French on The Collector's Series Volume One
I bet we're driving people crazy talking about some of Céline's French works!
