Last night, my siblings went off with my father to see Harry Potter. My mother and I stayed home to watching TV and use the computers. On the news, they showed clips of Thanksgiving dinner being fed to the troops in Afghanistan. Both my mother and I thought back to Thanksgiving 12 years ago and started laughing. During Desert Shield, some troops ate bad turkey and became ill. It was the top story Thanksgiving weekend back on Ft. Bragg. Everyone worried that President Bush ate one of the bad turkeys. We worried about my father but since he was a support troop and not one of the precious 82nd soliders, he didn't get a higher quality meal that Thanksgiving. But, at least, my father did not get sick.
When my sister came home, we asked her did she remember. But, she couldn't. The only thing she remembers from the term of the first President Bush is him vomitting in Japan.
After the news and inspired by a Georgia Lottery ad with a gift monkey destroying a home, my mother and I watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Just as I put it in, the rest of my family came home and my brother joined us. So three of us watched this movie and laughed our butts off. The scariest part of the movie is seeing "Cousin Eddie" and knowing every family seems to have one. Or at least, one side of my family had a "Cousin Eddie" marry into it. ![]()
After the movie, I watched the Faith Hill special, the end of a Julie Andrews/James Gardner movie on Lifetime, the first 10 minutes of the news, and then a show on the Tenere Desert. The show on the desert was quite interesting. The Tenere Desert is actually an arm of the Sahara in Niger. It's full of famous sand dunes. The host of the show climbed the highest sand dune in the world and skiied down the slope.
I'm in love with that Discovery Civilization channel.
Now that Thanksgiving is over with, let the birthday countdown begin! My birthday is in a week and a day!
