Monday Mission

1. Have you ever made a wish that came true? Yes I have. When I was 13, I wished to meet Richard Marx. *Smile* Came true five, six, seven, and eight years later! *Laughing* I did have a dream one in 6th that when Mrs. Paul gave out the new seating assignment, I'd end up back next to Phillip Best again. Mind you, this is when I was 12! He sat next to me in the old seating assignment and at first, didn't sit next to me in to new assignment. Then we had CAT testing, and somehow, he ended up next to me after those tests. I answered that as a dream coming true.

2. How about any wishes that you are happy never came true? You know, I can't think of one! *Laughing*

3. Do you like who you are? Are you the person you hoped you would become? Well, there are parts of me I don't like and I never did become the person I wanted to be. But for the most part, I'm happy with who I am. *Smile*

4. I recently found some job applications that I never turned in. Back in 1986 I intended to apply at "County Seat" and "Chess King" but got an offer from Penny's (where I worked all through college). It was a good thing, since only one of the three is still around. Have you ever applied for positions, or had any interviews, where you later are glad you never got the job? I don't want to talk about jobs, ok? It's a sore subject with me.

5. While on the topic of career opportunities, what was your very first "real" job? What job was the most embarrassing? The only job I had was the one where I was let go due to some bitches not willing to cope with who I am. Come on, after talking to J, my mother and I have decided that's what it came to. Oh well, I'm back in school now and one day, I might get a degree! *Razzing My Tongue*

6. Speaking of news, have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet? Such as being in the newspaper, on television, linked on a high-profile site or otherwise caught in the spotlight of the media? Well, I haven't been on the news, but in 5th grade, a picture I drew made it into the Mini-Pages. I told my teacher and it was annouced over the PA system and later that day, I was given a laminated copy of the sketch from the paper. It's floating around in the house somewhere. *Laughing* Then in 6th grade, the school did the same when the Ft. Bragg newspaper had an article about me winning the school's Geography Bee and making it into the top 100 to go to the State Geography Bee. Ft. Bragg only had two kids eligible to try for the State Bee and the older kid didn't make it. Once at the State Bee, my mother found the Fayetteville newspaper reporter and had him place me in the photo and article about Cumberland County students that made it to the State Bee. I don't have a copy of that article. Those were the only stories focused on me.

7. In the USA, many of us will celebrate Thanksgiving this week. Do you celebrate Thanksgiving (or something like it)? Do you enjoy getting together will your extended family for these types of celebrations? Well, this year, it's just my parents and siblings due to my father being on the road. The past two years, have been in Chattanooga with extended family.

BONUS: Where is the tenderness? I hope in the turkey meat!

Comments

1. *warning: a tad, just a tad depressing*
Well, the one time every year that i wasn't beaten the crap out of was always on my birthday. for some reason, my parents were kind enough to not put me through hell for those 24 hrs every year. So every year, just before blowing out the candles, I would wish that I'd live to see my next birthday. It was a very important wish and apparently it came true. I am alive!

2. On the same note, the other 364 days of every year I always muttered "I wish I was dead." Thank heavens I'm not! Funny isn't it? On a day with birthday cake, I wished with all my might to see the next birthday but the moment the sun went down, I'd be dreading what came next and the first words out of my mouth were always "I wish I was dead." But now I see which wish the angels really listened to, huh? I am grateful to be alive!

3. Yes, I like who I am very much. It's been a long hard road to this place. As recently as 4 years ago, I could name only two things I was proud of--my sense of humor/wiseass ways and the fact that I am a great friend. I couldn't see anything else good about me. Now though, I've got lots going for me(all my own doing. I make my own happiness no matter what) and I am a much better person than I ever hoped to be. My experiences I think were very humbling. Had I not gone through hell, I would've just been another spoiled, rich kid like 99% of my grade-and-high-school peers. Yeah I have everything I could want but I do have a humongous heart and I love to make people feel thought of. Most people here aren't like that.

4. Not really.

5. My first real job was as a Student Child Care Worker(CCW) at the University Child Care Center. I was at that job for most of my college years. All my jobs have always been with kids. I don't know that I could've ever pulled off a retail or food service job or any job that requires me to sit at a computer all day. I truly admire those who can! Haven't had an embarrassing job...yet.
*knocks on wood*

6. My time's about to come...the world's gonna know who I am by August of this coming year and considering I'll still have another year before the Olympics, I'm thinkin' I'll have more than 15 minutes of fame.!

K back to do this one..

1. Travis and I used to sit on the hood of the car at my mother's house in KY and watch for falling stars. Everytime we saw one we would make a wish. At the time we didn't know it but we were wishing for the same thing. I was wishing he would ask me to marry him and he was wishing I would say yes when he did. So I am really happy both those wishes came true!

2. Back before I met travis, back when I was in highschool, I used to make a wish on a star(Yeah I'm a dreamer.. so what? lol) that I would be with my boyfriend forever. Then after I split with the BF I would wish that this other boy I really liked(Who turned out to be GAY!! *THUD*) would fall for me. Thank God neither of those came true!!

3. No. I don't like who I am at all really. Except the part of me who always wants to help people in any way possible. And I am nothing like I imagined I would be growing up. In my highschool paperwork they have you fill out before grad they asked "Where do you see yourself in 10 years" I answered that I would be a surgeon in the US Navy or something like that. Look at me now.

4. The only place I ever applied for was Dairy Queen and I wish I had NEVER worked there!! That place sucked, mainly because of the management.. Didn't have to apply really for the Navy... but I wish they had turned me down too. I woulda gone to college and been something by now.

5. First real work experience was stripping tobacco for my stepdad's boss. Dairy Queen was my first "real" job. And as I said... It totally blew chunks!! But at least I got free ice cream.. But I also smelled like it every night when I went home!

6. I kinda had my 15 minutes of fame when I was on NATIONAL TV!! Remember Tammy?? LMAO!! Actually, didn't you say you watched too Shawn to see if you could catch Tammy and I? Well for those who may read this and don't know the story, Tammy came down a few years back and we went to watch WCW Nitro from the Richmond Coll. here in VA. We had great signs and I got on TV in a close up like 3 different times!! It was awesome!! Hehe. I still have it on video cause we taped it while we were there!!

7. Thanksgiving will be held at my house this year. As I said before, sister and her hubby are coming over and then there with be Trav Adrianna and I too. Why do some of these things keep asking the same question over and over again?

Bonus: Where is the tenderness? Where is the love? "Where is the Love" Celine Dion.

Posted by: Dragon at November 26, 2002 1:17 AM

Yes, I watch wrestling just that one to see you all. But all I could make out was Tammy.

Posted by: Shawn at November 26, 2002 10:12 AM

I don't have normal hours...lol. All that's certain is that I'll be working anytime between 10 am and 10:30 pm. So far I've been working like 2-10 or 2:30-10:30 which doesn't really help anyone as far as trying to make plans with me.

After Christmas I think they'll be giving me 10-6 shifts since I won't be working at Toys R Us anymore. But I'll believe that when I see it.
