I don't know if this is the correct syllabus for the course I want to take. It's the same professor but the page says "Summer, 2000." Not very up-to-date, is it?
"You may find this course to be very time-consuming; be sure to plan your study schedule carefully for the term, especially if you are taking more than one course and/or are working in addition to school. " That's why I'm only taking one course in the summer. I can study during baseball games. I have weekends off at work.
"Textbooks: DiYanni, The Scribner Handbook for Writers, Second edition (SWH)" Thank goodness I have that book in my possesion at this moment. It was the same book I needed when I first took this course.
"X. J. Kennedy, The Bedford Reader, Seventh edition (BR)" Ok, I'll need to get this book.
"All students should have a hardback college dictionary" And I'll need one of these, too. I can hear the charges on my credit card right now. But thankfully I paid something down on my major credit card. I'm not touching my minor credit card.
"File folder: All students must supply a manila folder in which I will keep your work; the folder will be returned to you at the end of the course. On the tab please write your last name, first name and the course number (1101-3). " Please! I work with manila file folders everyday! I think I can get one. ![]()
"Essay format: All essays unless otherwise stated will be typed (word-processed). Use standard one-inch margins. Top margin on the first page can be dropped two inches. Essays should be in the range of 500 to 700 words. Be sure the computer and printer you use are in good working order; no allowance will be given for delays caused by computer or printing problems." I've got a heavy duty printer at work. I have here at home and work Microsoft Word. It's 2000 at work and I think 2000 at home. Not too certain on the version on my mother's computer.
Most of the stuff inThe Scribner Handbook for Writers that I have seen, is stuff my 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Sturgies, taught my class.
As for the essays, I do wonder what they could be about. Sometimes I can write. Other times, I just can't think of a thing. Other times, I can think but can't express it on paper.
In other news: I think I might get Room For Squares by John Mayer tomorrow.
I've got to find Shawn's phone number to see how he and Laura are doing. I want to know she got there safely.
And finally, it's Braves Time. I
my Braves.
