One of Promoguy's Monday Mission questions is "Ever had a love that you still think of as "the one that got away?" What's the story there?" I answered that I didn't have an answer.
Which is true. I have never had a boyfriend. But Ryan's the closest I've had to one.
I started thinking about Ryan the other day. I was watching my sisters dance and then Nicki, Christina, and I went to a baseball game.
I don't know if I've discussed Ryan like I have Logan. I forget and can't seem to find any entries about him. If someone means more to me, it's Ryan. But I've not seen him in 7 years so anything between us is either faded or gone.
I met Ryan when I was 14. His mother happened to my sisters' dance teacher. I met him one day when I had no choice but to follow my mother to dance. So I took a bunch of my YM magazines, my tape collection at the time and a walkman, and the Game Boy in a bag.
On our way to dancing, my mother stopped and got Nicki and her friend Vanessa something at a convience store. Nicki happened to buy some sour gum. The gum was so bad, she gave it to Ryan.
Well, I was sitting in the corner, later, playing Game Boy rocking away to Richard Marx when Ryan approached me. He gave me some of the gum just to see my reaction. Mind you at this time, I was shy and didn't talk to many people. How I had a friendship with Ryan, I'll never know.
That gum was gross! I ran outside spitting it out. He just laughed at me. He'd talk to me. I'd talk back. We spent a few hours there at his home that summer night. At one point, he hid my bag of stuff, claiming he thought it was my sister's. My sister later on said that he hid the bag to get at me. That he knew that bag belonged to me.
So until I moved to Savannah, Ryan and I were friends. He was on the soccer team at his school. He lived off Ft. Bragg so he went to the public schools in Cumberland County. He wanted me to attend the match against our schools. I happened to be sick but Nicki went. She said he was disappointed that I wasn't there.
I could go on and on about him. He was fun to be around. If anything, he's the closest to a boyfriend I ever had. But now he's married and off touring the world and I'm here in Savannah, trying to get my life together.
